Published

:anbd:[color=olive]i'm wondering if anyone applied to the nursing program for the fall 2010 at bmcc. has anyone received an acceptance call?

Hawkins11377,

Congrats on the acceptance and the best of luck to you. ;)

I attend BMCC but I got a B in psy 100 and Eng 101 so at this point I know I'm not getting into the nursing program there. :( does anyone know a school that will take my B's. ?

I really wish I knew about ratemyprofessor.com a lot of people use it to get A's : (

Hey Everyone! I joined the site a few weeks back but have been viewing site for a while. I also attend BMCC and currently taking my pre-clinical...trying to stay on top of my school and also work full time Mon-Fri ...I know this trend is a few weeks old so not sure if anyone will respond...I wanted to get some feedback...do you think it doable to be in the program and also still have to do A&P II and Micro...or would it be too much?

Hi Studnur,

That will be very tough to do and I'm not sure if that is doable when you're working full time. I had a classmate who was working full time and taking only APII and micro at the same time and she had a very tough time - she's not even in the program yet! If you'll take the program in the morning and take APII/Micro at night/weekend, then it might be doable but still, not sure if that's advisable to do.

Best Regards,

Dee

Hi Dee,

Thanks so much for responding. I know my schedule now is crazy with work/school. I am two semester away from applying so i have some time...just wanted to get an idea from now. Your friend took APII and micro at the same time...I did not even know that was possible...thought u had to do A&P II before Micro (does BMCC allows that?) ...that does seem very tough and I will not do that, I was thinking of separating each per semester...so I will take A&P II at the same time I take NUR 112 and Micro at the same time I take NUR 211...and I hope to not be working full time at that time...so do you think it can be doable in such case...or still advise it will be tough?

Thanks so much again for all of your insight :)

Hi studnur,

That's actually the suggested schedule from BMCC for the morning program so I'm sure you'll do well. My friend was able to persuade the science department to take both APII and micro at the same. I guess they accept that for those who requested it. Goodluck!

Hi Dee,

Thanks again for your response...I appreciate your insight. I am happy that your friend was able to do both at the same time, good for her! Which both of you the best of luck! Are you in the program? If so how is it? I have to take Chem 121 in the Fall and I am a bit nervous...any advise?

Thanks,

Safia

Hi Safia,

I just finished the prereqs and will apply for the Spring 2010 evening program. I am also working full time. I did not take chem at BMCC but took both A&Ps, micro, psych, english and the math science. Don't be nervous with chem, just make sure you pass. What you need to concentrate is to get As in the first 4 prereq (eng1, AP1, psych1 and math). Goodluck!

Hi,

I'm from laguardia cc, and I'm done with all my pre-reqs the only thing is that I didn't get into the nursing program in my school so I'm thinking of moving at BMCC, if I apply now as a student at BMCC when can I apply for the nursing candidacy? can I apply for spring 2011? I have all 4 pre-reqs done I got 3 A's and 1 B I'm not sure how much my GPA is with the pre-reqs, my overall GPA is 3.575, do you think I have a chance of getting into the nursing program at BMCC? the thing is that the school (bmcc) will not evaluate my grades unless I register as their student, I feel bad for that 'coz I don't want to register at BMCC then I'll end up not getting into their nursing program.. please any advice or ideas, thank you

Hi Marcee,

From what I saw on the BMCC Nursing website, you have to be a registered student for one semester first before you can apply. If that's the case, then it will be too late for you to register for the Spring 2011 program as they start accepting applications by October and the next one is for Fall program which is a one-year wait. Also from what I heard, the GPA acceptance is really high and having a B in one of the prereqs will make your chances tougher to get in. You might need to check non-CUNY schools as CUNY nursing programs are really competitive. That's just my two cents.

Best Regards,

Doris

Hi Doris,

I know, it's really tough to get into the nursing program especially if its from a Cuny School, do you happen to know if they will let me retake my B? I know it's quite risky to retake it, but if given a chance I'm gonna do it since getting into a non-cuny/private school is really pricey. :(

Hi Marcee,

Yes, I recommend retaking your B subject, just make sure to tell that when you register at BMCC. I did that with my English (I had a B) and was able to get an A. You can register this fall and then apply for the Fall program next year.
