Hello everyone!
I was wondering if there is anyone else here that will be attending Fairleigh Dicke\inson's 2009 1 year accelerated nursing program (day program) starting May 2009. I was recently accepted and looking to meet some classmates

I'll also be starting the 1 year ABSN at FDU next week. I'm moving up from philly and having some trouble finding a place to live, so if you know of anybody looking to sublet or lease let me know, or if you just want to meet up.

Do any of you guys know where i can take a Bioethics or Medical ethics class for the prerequisite?
ggabri07, thanks for offering your help!
I was wondering about the PDA requirement. Any recommendations, or does everyone use the same one?
Also, I'm looking for the following books for My first semester classes, if you have any of these:
Nurs 2003 - Funds. of Nursing I:
Taylor, Fundamentals of Nursing, 6th ed. + Study Guide + Video Guide
Castillo, Calculating Drug Dosages, 2nd ed.
Sparks & Taylor, Nursing Diagnosis Ref. Manual, 2nd ed.
Lynn, Taylor's Clinical Nursing Skills, 2nd ed.
Wilson, Health Assessment for Nursing Practice, 4th ed.
Nurs 2005 - Prof. Comm. Skills:
Varcarolis & Halter, Essentials of Mental Health Nursing
Nurs 2006 - Dev't. Through Life Span
Lutz, Nutrition and Diet Therapy, 4th ed.
Berk, Dev't Through Life Span, 4th ed.
APA Manual & Rules for Writers
Nurs 2210 - Pathophysiology:
Huether, Understanding Pathophysiology, 4th ed.
No Problem. I realized that in nursing school its wise to work with other students to make it!. You are not required to get a PDA. I have the Palm TX but you have to buy the nursing software with it. Its expensive.
I have fundamentals book, study guide(even tough you won't need it) and I have the video guide(which I have not used either).
Castillo, Calculating Drug Dosages, 2nd ed.( I have this one but I need it for every semester so I can't sell it. ....FYI......You take a med-cal exam every semester. You have three chances to pass it with a 90.)
Wilson, Health Assessment for Nursing Practice, 4th ed.( I have this one)
Lutz, Nutrition and Diet Therapy, 4th ed.( I have this one but I have to go look for it later. I think we used it once)
Huether, Understanding Pathophysiology, 4th ed. ( I have this book)
The others ones I don't have. I shared the lifespan book with my friend, I did not buy the nursing dx book....so far I have been able to live w/o it. I did not buy the APA book...I think its a waste of money. You can find out how to do APA formats online. We did not use that mental health book....Its a new book that's being used for the first time in the summer.
Why dont you take it with the program? I just got done taking it this sememster. I am not sure what other schools is offering it
Oh i thought you have to take prerequisites before they accept you?
they will allow you to take bioethics and economics with the program. the other pre-requisite are absolutely required before getting accepted.

YIKES: hate to say it, but I was in an NCLEX Review course with LOTS of FDU Accel BSN grads.....and almost without exception, they HATED their time at FDU. Besides being OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, they said the program was terribly unorganized, the Dean/Admin structure was completely UNRESPONSIVE to student concerns. The other ABSN progams nearby might not be THAT much better....but they only cost 1/2 as much, eg: UMDNJ and Rutgers. Just be FOREWARNED.....Accel Programs give you the LEAST amount of clinical experience....but you prob already know that going into it. Really though, reconsider spending $55k-$60k on a program (FDU) that treats you like doggy-doo!!!
I am currently in the FDU program and so far its been good besides 1 teacher. I am in the 2 year accelerated program. YOU ARE RIGHT, IT IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. The reason I decided to do it is because I can go there at night and still be able to keep my morning job. I really considered going to UMDNJ but I would have to quite my job and be completely broke and I was not ready to do that. I will be done with FDU next year, I am hopefull that I will find a job that will pay back my loans.
