Hi everyone, I have just been accepted into Bergen Community College's evening program, but am hesitant. I am 20 years old and do not have a BS degree. I simply went to BCC to take my pre-requisites for nursing and then applied to the program. I'm worried that after I graduate from BCC's program (assuming I get that far), hospitals will no longer be hiring 2-year RNs or at least RNs who don't have a BS degree (not necessarily in nursing, but in anything). I've heard this being said and am wondering if any of you have heard the same. Maybe it would be better for me just to get my general BS done first and then do an accelerated program or even just get a BSN...? I would really like to know your experiences/opinions on this. I have to make a decision by next week!

I wasn't wondering whether they would accept me now for Fall 2010 (I know they need my semester grades for that), but I was wondering if I could send it all my materials and my application for Fall 2010. It's wayyy before the deadline, but I'd rather have it submitted now than hold on to it for later. I contacted the Undergrad Admissions office and they are going to get back to me. I assume if I send all my transcripts and stuff that they will just keep it on file until decisions are made... then again, transfer students are taken on a rolling basis (I just found out) so I don't know...

Simmons College in Boston, MA. I actually just read somewhere that they accept transfer students on a rolling basis. So that answers my question.

I graduate with my A.A.S in Health & Health Science at the end of the Fall 2009 semester. Since the school I am applying to for my B.S.N only runs programs starting in fall, I plan to finish up some of my pre-requisites during Spring 2010 and apply to the school for the Fall 2010 semester. The school takes the common application (which I already have done) and I have already sent my high school transcripts. All that is left to send is my college transcripts. I'm wondering if I can send my completed application in NOW (for Fall 2010)? If so, will I receive a decision any sooner (they do not have Early Action, Decision, or Rolling admission)? Or do they still need to wait to receive ALL my grades (Fall 2009/Spring 2010)? Thanks!

Thanks, Dolphin. I went to Boston University for my first semester of college and absolutely loved it - unfortunately, they don't have a nursing program! I'll have to look into the ones you mentioned...

OK so the deal is that I am currently earning my AA in Professional Studies at my community college in Jersey. I am looking to pursue nursing and earn my BSN from a university in Boston. Through my searches, I have only been able to find information on Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Science. This school offers a 32-month program. I am looking for any information anyone might have on this school and/or any other Boston schools that have a BS program available for those who haven't already earned a bachelors or RN certificate elsewhere. Thanks!
