failed twice: need advice

Published

Hey Guys-

Im new the forum, I have been a lurker for a while but i figured I might as well join. I am just to this point of complete frustration :banghead: where I dont know what to do anymore. Let me explain. I graduated in May of 2008 with my BSN from a great school. I had my dream job in pediatrics critical care all lined up and secured. So I took a position working only PRN. Well in June of 2008 my father passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack, he was only 52. I am completely devastated and still grieving. I am bullheaded and when I get my mind on something I stick to it. So I had scheduled my test for early July, rather than moving it, I ended up taking it. I got 75 questions, and knew that I failed before even getting my results. So I went in and told my boss and she said thats fine we will keep you on PRN. So I studied really really hard. I did nothing else expect study and work ocassionally. All the meantime my fiance is trying to find a job, without any success, great guy, well qualified, no experience. (same song and dance):uhoh3: I ended up taking it again in at the end of September. So I thought I was ready and I went in confident. I sat for over 4 and 1/2 hours with all 265 questions. I was so nervous. Got my results and was devasted that I didnt pass. :crying2: So I call my boss and she says well we cant hold your job. So all we have availabe as a UAP/PCT/PCA is full time. So I am now working full time, trying to study on my days off and my fiance is looking for a job all at the same time!! Talk about STRESS!! I am over my head. I feel like I have hit a brick wall and have almost lost the motivation to study!! I am trying NCSBN this time around, since I did Kaplan twice now!! I have read about Suzannes plan but I already have my ATT and have yet to schedule my test. Im worried I wont have enough time to do that plan!! What should I do?? I feel like I should quit work, but then I wont be an "internal" canidate to an RN position once I pass. Then again if I continue to work, I feel like I have no time to study???? And will fail again for the 3rd time. Any suggestions would be great!! I hate being miserable, especially around the holidays!!:uhoh21:

For how long is the ATT good? I would definitely go with Suzanne's Plan if you can find a way to. It works.

My ATT is good until February 2nd of 2009. Do you think that will be enough time though?? And what is so good about Suzannes Plan??

That will be enough time.

What's so good about her plan is that it works. Look around the forum and read stories from people who have used it. The sticky with inx is at the top of the page.

I hav just failed the 2nd time aswell.... 265 the first time only 75 this second time...I was hoping for a pass, at 75 Q it was to good to be true though....ALL my friends passed with only 75 Q I feel so alone in this!

Rach you are not alone!! I just posted to you!! We are in this together. all my friends passed too with 75!! I was the opposite of you I was 75 the first time and 265 the second time!! We should really talk!!

Hi 3rdtimecharmRN,

Try using Suzanne's plan, I read on this forum a lot of great review, you can find the info on the stickys on top of this thread. Her plan is 45 days long, after you completed her first tip. Her plan only use 1 book which is 4th edition saunders. You still have time, try it, it's free and you got nothing to lose.

I too failed twice, I am trying her plan for my 3rd time. I am going to take my test in late January. The first time I had 75 questions, the second time I had 212 questions but I ran out of time, I was a nervous wreck when I took it the 2nd time. Anyway, we have to try to beat this test, we can do it. We all in the same boat girl. I too in a lot of pressure to pass the test since I am 6 months pregnant, I want to pass the test before my baby is born. I am also working full time as a PCT. Keep your head up girl.

We'll make it, when there's a will there's a way. Good luck, let's support each other through tough times. God bless.

Hoping that you are successful on your next try. Keep studying at a comfortable pace and think about your goal whenever you get discouraged. You can do this.

my suggestion is to have at least one new edition of NCLEX Book for example Kaplan or Lippincot, or new edition of Saunders read it by chapter, analyze, understand it read it twice or thrice. Do practice exam... and read the random fact throwing for nclex in this site...remember the ABC's, MASLOW...

Have to beg a difference with you in what you posted. My program is not only 45 days long. One actually must complete the first tip that is posted and then send me a pm. Mailings are done only every two weeks, not immediately when someone writes for it. And then it is 48 days if a new tester and 49 days if a retester; that is the amount of time that one must have from the time of the mailing.

One can easily do it but it is not going to be in just 6 weeks. It just is not possible and I will not send it out if there is not enough time to complete it as it is posted.

Just keep studying and studying and remember to never give up. God is always with you. Good luck on your next exam
