Failed screening

Published

Not sure where to begin, I got into this program almost a year ago and have had 3 positive screenings for opiates, please don't come after me. Was curious what the ASBN will do about this, I'm willing to do whatever, I just need some reassurance here. This is my first time posting on this forum. I have read hours upon hours of topics on here, not hardly slept and just disgusted with myself. Thinking it would be better just to surrender my license then to face the board. Has anyone ever had to deal with being kicked out of monitoring? I am single and have no real family to help me and I'm gonna loose everything without a job. Thanks for reading.

Update:,CM wants me to call her tomorrow about this incident as she called it, Wish me luck and I tested again today, which is fine, just fun shy now after this last one, knowing I did not take anything that would cause a low level of Hydromorphone. Prayers for good news and not bad news. Thanks to everyone for your input, means a lot and has kept me going!

It's harsh that you have to wait but I think it's good news that you're still able to work etc.  I read labels for everything.  I'm truly praying for you.

It's probably a good sign that you had to wait an entire day to "call tomorrow."  If they wanted you to stop practicing and get a new eval or whatever, someone would have call you that day.  I've even heard of case managers calling people at like 11pm telling them they have a positive test and to make an action plan.

Just got off the phone with CM and she talked with MRO and deemed it accidental exposure. If anything else happens within the next 6 months I have left I will be reported to the board. Thank you Jesus and to everyone Praying for me! It's been a rough week and a half with this stress and knowing I didn't take anything. I'm gonna make it through this and am never so ready to be done with monitoring, the stress alone is punishment enough!

So happy for you.

Thank you so much!! Been a long stressful week and a half for sure! I truly appreciate everyone for all the comments sure helped quite a bit while waiting.

And thank you for posting your process also - because it also sheds light on what happens in these situations.  Many of us don't know and also are too afraid/paranoid to ask our case managers about these "what if" scenarios.

Your welcome! Just always stand your ground if you know you haven't taken anything and always discuss anything with your CM, mine is amazing and very firm but understanding and willing to listen to anything I have concerns about.

So glad things are working out for you. I remember how stressful those years in Diversion were, especially the false positives. I found this graphic that might be helpful to all who participate in this forum.

What happened to you when you had a false positive?

I had three positive ETGs. Technically not false as they only occur when the liver processes ETOH. They were all just above the incidental threshhold. All three times I was taken off work until I had two negative tests. I did a lot of research about products that contain ETOH and one I learned to avoid those products I never had a positive again. I suppose it helped that at the time my boss was friends with my case manager.

That would be a big help.  I consider a false positive alcohol test to be from eating or consuming something like toothpaste, food or using hand sanitizer.  Also lab error.  You had positive tests but didn't drink alcohol so I'd call it a false positive even though that may not be the correct term. Glad things worked our for you.

Somwhere on this forum I posted the list of substances to avoid including cosmetics and hair dyes. I'll try to find it and post it again.
