Failed screening

Nurses Recovery

Published

Not sure where to begin, I got into this program almost a year ago and have had 3 positive screenings for opiates, please don't come after me. Was curious what the ASBN will do about this, I'm willing to do whatever, I just need some reassurance here. This is my first time posting on this forum. I have read hours upon hours of topics on here, not hardly slept and just disgusted with myself. Thinking it would be better just to surrender my license then to face the board. Has anyone ever had to deal with being kicked out of monitoring? I am single and have no real family to help me and I'm gonna loose everything without a job. Thanks for reading.

tjank you for commenting, I have reached out to her on Friday when I seen the test result, but of course it was a Friday evening and the weekend and of course Monday being a holiday. Did your license get suspended while you went to tx, I'm gonna ask for further testing and see where it goes. I just pray they let me retest somehow, I only have 7 months left. Waiting is killing me, been in bed all weekend, haven't ate, it's the worse for sure. Thanks again!!

In my program they sometimes accept that you took a medication that could have caused a positive result but you have to show photos of the ingredients.   If it is something that would test positive it would be positive in a hair test because that lasts about 3 months.  If it was an error in that you consumed nothing that would cause a positive test a hair test would show it was a false positive. Keep us updated.  Hope it works out for you

CM got back with me today and I was positive for Hydromorphone level of 14, normal is 12 or below. Not sure what would have even caused this, getting MRO involved, I'm just sick!!

Did you eat anything with poppy seeds? Salad dressing, roll, muffins,  bread?  Check ingredients of all over the counter medicine. The level detested is really low, most likely incidental exposure but it's up to you to prove that. I'm so sorry.

Usually, secondary testing is done to confirm or for accidental exposure.  And a one time incident or accidental exposure like this would be negative in a hair test.  Hair tests are not sensitive - but they can detect long-term use.

MRO called and gonna retest the urine, prayers please it's below 12, thank you!!

The same urine or a new sample, ?

Same one? he is hoping it's a lab error, I pray it is!

Talked with MRO about my cough medicine maybe interfered with test or if something I ate could have cause that low level and he said no. So I don't know what could have cause it. Just hoping it's a lab error, if not I'm gonna loose my license for a time and just devastated. I didn't take anything and can't understand. I have been racking my brain and even thought about when I crush pills at my cart, I'm only 5 foot and I am little above eye level with my cart and I know several times while putting applesauce in my crushed meds if there is air in the bottle we use to squirt it out dust flies up from the medicines, not sure it's possible to have that cause this, but I do have to crush several narcotics for my residents. I don't know just sick about this and needed to vent. Thank you all for listening.

Hopefully it's a lab error.  Praying it's a lab error.  They wouldn't consider it incidental exposure as it's such a low level.

I didn't think to ask about incidental exposure, I just asked about medicine I was taking and any foods. I was so upset at the moment I didn't know what to ask or say in the spot. He was really polite and explained that those meds or no foods could cause that. I don't know I only have less than 7 months to be done with my monitoring, the thought of being kicked out, loosing my license for this is heart wrenching and I am sick about it.

Are your results back? Really hoping it's negative.
