Could be attributed to some pregnancy brain fog! Maybe waiting until after you deliver is not a bad idea?

I know you're in a tough position. Yes, if you go again, you could fail; however, if you don't go again, you definitely won't pass ... just a thought.

yes, I totally believe the pregnancy brain fog had something to do with it! Lol! My husband thinks I'm crazy when I say being pregnant makes me dumber. But I think its true! I'm going to wait til after baby boy comes. I only have 12 weeks left. So in that time I guess I'll keep studying.

Pregnancy doesn't make anybody dumber. You might not be able to concentrate, but you will get over that. Just wait til after you have the baby and try again.

Just saw your post and I'm so sorry you have to go through this again. I can't imagine going through the CPNE pregnant...omg...you are so brave. Give yourself some time off and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and sign up for the CPNE a few months after your baby is born and your hormones settle down. Maybe you'll be able to use some xanax when your not pregnant (unless you're breastfeeding) and that will help with the nerves a bit. You really are an inspiration with your determination, I truly admire you. Congratulations on your forthcoming bundle of joy, and just think of all the stories you'll have for "junior" about how Mommy became an RN! ;)

I don't remember being more dumb while pregnant, but I do remember being CrAzY!!!:sstrs: And with Focus problem...definately. Seems like you may need a more organized way of completing charting and using your GRID in the room to complete the PCS's. It's almost like being mechanical. Never make a move without checking your GRID and alway use your mneumonics to chart. As for the AEB of you care plan.... did the Pt have it and was it listed as one of the Defining Characteristics in Mosby's for that specific Dx Label...and was it a s/s of the Problem? Not the Etiology? I would double check to make sure... If it is in Mosby's as was a s/s of the problem, then I would definately be writting an appeal letter.

Don't Quit!

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road your're trudging seems all up hill

When the funds are low and debts are high,

And you want to smile but you have to sigh

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns ,

As everyone of us sometimes learns

And many a failure turns about,

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace seems slow -

You may succeed with another blow

Success is failure turned inside out -

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far,

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -

It's when things seem worst that you must

NOT QUIT.

I put frozen orange juice away in the can cupboard and stamps away in the freezer when I was about 6 months pregnant with first baby, honestly I think I was daydreaming about baby too much, lol!! I can't imagine doing CPNE pregnant! Take it easy for these last few weeks, and use the time to reorganize your attack plan and enjoy your baby :) Good luck, and hang in there!

thanks everyone for the comforting words!

am a nervous wreck about the cpne and haven't even finished theory. This whole process is a bit nerve wrecking, being pregnant doesn't help, so many other things on your mind at that time in life, i know, i have two. I was so sleep deprived when i was pregnant, couldn't get comfortable, and you know what that does to the brain!! I agree with the others to wait, not just till after the baby is born, but until baby lets you sleep, i remember there were times that i was awake for 3 days straight, not very advantageous for study. As far as bp, makes sure you don't have an ear infection, everytime i get one, i can't hear bp's correctly, but some pt's are really just hard to hear, don't know if the testing telescopes are the crummy ones that they have at our hospital, added to a pt with a weak bp, omg.

You can do it, we all can:redbeathe:nurse:
