Failed Nursing 4 by .8 of a point

Hello I am asking around to see how is it possible to win an appeal when it really has nothing to do with policy is there a chance? My dean said I didn't make the grade point blank very cut and dry. But see I have committed everyday to this pushed my kids aside and worked o very hard. Not that people don't I no I am not alone. But I found myself taking the final and I was on number 50 and I marked 49 on the scantron I never checked prior questions because time. I have a diagnosis of anxiety and ADD but I didn't request accomidations because I wanted to see if I could do without now I kick myself because if I had enough time I could have caught a error and passed. I felt so confident after the finaland I don't feel that way easily so this makes sense to me. The school had us pay for boards get unform and pin all before knowing if we passed I have been crushed. Is appealing this a joke?

SO you are ok with her being allowed to pass because she claims she has ADD. So with that then why have any standards? Patients just have to be ok with nurses who are not capable of passing nursing school? How about MDs? Why not have doctors who actually can't pass medical school, but hey they are depressed so they just let them pass. You are essentially saying standards are pointless because she is a "practicing LVN". Oh well hey..just make her an RN since it makes no difference between LVN and RN. Make call LVNs and CNAs automatic RNs even if they can't pass the classes because they are already working in a hospital and because NanikRN "isn't worried" about it. Tell that to the lawyer and see how that goes after the med error.

Actually, I never said she should pass or not pass. I even noted that in my experience nursing schools have very little flexability.

My objection is that you assume because she has ADD she's going to make mistakes. She requires testing accomadations-- that's not the same as "allowing" her to pass

Nope, not saying standard are pointless That's on you.

You tried to educate the OP on the standards of nursing My point is that ske is a practicing LVN for almost 10 years. She knows the standards. Perhaps better than you.

First I would avoid mentioning to your program or the facility that only take ADD meds to help you study, that will raise major red flags since that's how those medications are most commonly abused and why they're often referred to as "study drugs" or "smart pills" when abused for the purpose of studying.

I would also keep in mind that it's become unlikely you would have gotten any sort of accommodations. The purpose of accommodations for a learning disability is to remove aspects that make the test more difficult for some, which aren't part of the purpose of the test. In a regular math class, the purpose of the test is only to evaluate a student's math knowledge, so it might be appropriate to try and remove the stress of doing poorly on the test for instance. But for a nursing math test, the ability to perform mathematical calculations while distracted and under the pressure of severe consequences for mistakes is an important part of the test, and therefore often isn't something that has to be removed in providing accommodations.

So I've reread the OP notes. I can't find where she said this was a math test . It was her nursing final. It might have had some math...

My question is, who wrote your appeal letter? If your posts here are any indication, it wasn't you, it has a totally different sound, KWIM? This may raise some flags with the administration too, fairly or not.

I agree you have nothing to lose by appealing via the college's published process. Good luck.

I wrote my letter actually. I have had some legal advice but the letter is from me.

Thank you

Well apparently I was misdiagnosed. I just found out I have Lyme disease. I thought it was ADD and apparently the issues I was having were due to Lyme. My joints started hurting in the beginning of Nursing 4, so besides being treated for ADD and put on medications with unwanted side effects, I was put on Embrel and later humara forpsoriatic Arthritis. So I now have an attorney helping my case and hope this solifies my appeal case ....
