I just found out that I failed the NCLEX RN test yesterday I am so dissapointed! I did the Kaplan review and thought that would be enough but obviously it wasn't! I am in complete denial, and I am still checking the site to see if it changes to PASS! It is so frustrating to go through 2 years of nursing school and then fail! I am looking for any suggestions to help me study and to pass the next time around!
Thanks
I found out today I failed mine. I took mine sept 29th. I don't know if I will take mine again. This is such a heart break to me and I know to you too. I am so sorry I hope you pass this time!!Robin
Do not make the mistake I did a brcome so discouraged that I let life and any little thing come between tackling
that exam again. Here it is 2years later and I'm studying to test for the 2nd time.
Your info/knowledge is fresh it will be much easier for you.
Rest a minute but please please please do not stop and give up. The Devil is a liar we can master this.
We mastered nursing school and we will become RN via the NCLEX-RN exam!!!!!
How many practice questions did you do? As far as your Kaplan class went... Did you do all the question trainers & the whole Qbank? I think once we know what you did to study the first time, we can give you better advice. :) Try and keep your hopes up. Many people don't pass on their first try. You just gotta get back to studying & try again.
I did Kaplan and failed the first time too.
Kaplan DOES NOT PREPARE YOU at all!!!
Buy a saunders 4th Edition and read it from cover to cover! answer the questions.. THat should take about 2 weeks depending on your time. Then answer the questions on the CD... do then questions at a time and what ever you got wrong, go to the section in the saunders book and read it...
I took it again today... Did the pearson trick and it didn't take me to the pay part (which means you failed)
I did 75 questions in less than an hour!

I think it really depends on WHY a person failed. Some people fail because they don't know strategies to use or because they aren't used to seeing the NCLEX type of questions (both of which Kaplan will help with), while other people fail because they don't know the content as well (which Saunders will help with).
sorry to hear that friend,
i did take kaplan the first time and did all trainer questions and q banks...and my average on the trainer questions was 66%. I falied with it.
I know everybody has their own opinions and advices. i had 12 friends who took the kaplan and among all i was the only one who failed unless they lied. Those friends who passed said, "kaplan was no where close to NCLEX RN". They said that the kaplan strategies was not possible to apply on any questions they had encountered; questions were very straight forward and most of it knowledge base. True! I also couldn't apply the stratigies.
So basically, my plan is reviewing all the contents and doing cds first. I am taking my money back from kaplan and use it to buy more questions to practice. Look back to your nclex test; try to recall what part did u feel hard to answer; did you guess the answers, if yes, why? or you weren't sure of the diseases and s/s or meds or maths etc? May be this will help u to understand where did u go wrong so that u will not do the same second time.
i am ready to get it through second time. i didn't review contents enough on first try; just did kaplan and went to sit for the test, big mistake.
You already know the strategies from kaplan. sit and relax for a week. Get your result and start planning how u wanna study second time around. We can make it friend. You are not alone. This is the last gate to open for your success !! Remember, "make sure you know your book stuff then u can apply stratigies"
sorry for long reply..
stay positive and i know u will make it through..
NOTE: i am not against kaplan, i just didn't review contents enough.
I did notice there were alot of precaution questions on the test!! I obviously got them wrongI can't believe I failed because I didn't think to review the basics! I feel like a failure but I am trying to stay positive! I have Saunders so I am going to start there.
Thanks
Well, if you really did miss all the "precautions" questions then that very well may have shot you down.
I had a number of precaution questions, delegation questions, and safety questions. They represented some 15-20% of the 75 questions that I saw. I'd make sure that you have that stuff down cold.
We did the ATI predictor as a comprehensive test in order to graduate and I worked through a few of the ATI subject tests before taking the NCLEX but really didn't study too much... and I'm no genius. I think I passed because I had a solid grasp of the fundamentals.

Hi Robin,
I know exactly how you feel and contemplated the same thing when I got my results yesterday but we are survivors and will accomplish it the next time. We worked so hard to get through nursing school to give up! This is a minor bump in the road and we have to stay strong and not give up on our dreams! Please dont give up.....
