Crtitical care certification class?
Hi friends thank you so much....for all of your replies... I sure will check into that BON websites. I do appreciate each one of you the ideas, advices, and concerns. About the orientation and training classes...they have said tht they will train me in ICU. I do already have my nurse name who am i going to work with for another 12 weeks. Plus, i had done 8 weeks of 12 hours shifts with my preceptor in cardiopulmonary floor during our last semester (stong expereince). They have said that certification class can go along with the intern in ICU. But the fact is, i need to have that certificate. They are also working in finding one; i contacted them and discussed. I will know by this week or on the day of my orientation. Once again, thank you so much...for everything... take care and have fun

Crtitical care certification class?
I know guys, that is what i am talking about...supposed to be provided by the hospital itself, i do not want to name the hospital but this one do not offer CC course class. I am newgrad RN. I don't know if i am fortunate to get this job, my ideal work place has always been ICU so i did talk about my ICU phlebotomist expereince to them during interview probably, they might be impressed and want to put me to the unit. But they clearly said that i need to take a course which will take 8 weeks and it is only once a week class. They couldn't remember the name where their previous employee had done it. Now, here i am looking to get one on my own and am confused where and how to get this class. I can work and still go to class along with it as they say but i need this certificate since i AM NEW ICU nurse. I had number of expereinces in hospital but not as an RN. Friends help me out, i did think about the $600 course as well that was the only thing i could find in google, thank you dear you for telling me it is bogus.... i may want to call the HR person if she can recommend any place for me....right? Thank you both of you for kind reply...I appreciate it. If you get more infos on this one please do reply me....... take care

Crtitical care certification class?
Anyone who is working in ICU would like to help me find a good school for critical care class? I just got hired in ICU and unfortunately, this hospital won't offer CC certification class for new employee. I found one place around orange county from google, but i would like to have second opinions from friends who already know good school and fair price rate. Please, nurses do you have a good advice for me????? Thank you...

Do most repeat test takers pass the nclex the 2nd time?
Hi, don't lose hope.. people do pass second time but you need to be mentally prepared and ready for the second time. First time did kaplan book and questions: failed. Second time: didn't have enough money to buy books so grabbed my old edition NCLEX review book which was in my self untouched (didn't have time to use it during school). The only book i bought was LA charity. I asked my money back from kaplan. Kaplan do work for most people, but i was more frustrated doing their questions; my anxiety went way to the roof. I took my time to understand wht is it i'm missing? I realized that first time, i did kaplan questions only; i was frustraed because i wouldn't get 56% and higher. How stupid i was, i should have reviewed contents first and bought LA charity. So, second time reviewed contents and did questions each time i finish the chapter; then, i did la charity book...best practice book. with no rush and hush...did 50-100 questions a day for a month, but i read each rationales..I would take more hours to read the rationales than do questions. With 80+ i passed second time. I was relaxed and had confident. PLUS its normal to feel lil' anxoius a couple of days before test. You would think "OMG i need to review a lot". It happens to lot of people including me. So, good luck to you and you will nail it down this time.

Testing for the 5th time
hi there, i am sorry to hear that. But to be honest with you, stop buying too many books. I didn't buy books on my second time and i am waiting for the result, according to PVT i passed. I used three books: Illustrated nclex review, la charity, kaplan's pocket medications. But i did go over the lists of diseases listed in our medsurg book. anyway, what i did was i reviewed each diseases that was listed in medsurg first. i read the nursing cares and interventions; Then i picked up one of my NCLEX review book by...which i don't remember authur's names but its published my mosby's "Illustrated nclex rn review". I read each chapter again. I did questions from back of that chapter about 25- 30 questions. i READ rationales for each options listed not only wrong ones. After I completed this book in about three weeks, i did saunder's cd questions. I didn't have saunder's book. Now, my final approach, i bought LA charity's prioritization, delegation and assignment "best practice book ever". I took my time in understanding rationales and not others.Hats off to la charity book for good practice on priortization, delegation and assignments. I didn't rush on studying and trying to practice 5000 questions for nclex which i totally don't agree with it. I had practice 4000 questions in my first try didn't help a bit. My second approach was different. I had promised myself not to rush during nclex exam and if you are not stopped in 75 then you are getting a chance to pass,u have not failed so better read each questions and try to answer carefully. I am sorry for big msg here. But, please review each chapters without hurry, and do questions as you go on, then at last, you can do comprehensive questions. You will sure make it through...I hope this helps a bit. Try to buy la charity book for practice questions... good luck to you and you will make this time.

Failed NCLEX yesterday...any tips for studying?
sorry to hear that friend, i did take kaplan the first time and did all trainer questions and q banks...and my average on the trainer questions was 66%. I falied with it. I know everybody has their own opinions and advices. i had 12 friends who took the kaplan and among all i was the only one who failed unless they lied. Those friends who passed said, "kaplan was no where close to NCLEX RN". They said that the kaplan strategies was not possible to apply on any questions they had encountered; questions were very straight forward and most of it knowledge base. True! I also couldn't apply the stratigies. So basically, my plan is reviewing all the contents and doing cds first. I am taking my money back from kaplan and use it to buy more questions to practice. Look back to your nclex test; try to recall what part did u feel hard to answer; did you guess the answers, if yes, why? or you weren't sure of the diseases and s/s or meds or maths etc? May be this will help u to understand where did u go wrong so that u will not do the same second time. i am ready to get it through second time. i didn't review contents enough on first try; just did kaplan and went to sit for the test, big mistake. You already know the strategies from kaplan. sit and relax for a week. Get your result and start planning how u wanna study second time around. We can make it friend. You are not alone. This is the last gate to open for your success !! Remember, "make sure you know your book stuff then u can apply stratigies" sorry for long reply.. stay positive and i know u will make it through.. NOTE: i am not against kaplan, i just didn't review contents enough.
