Failed nclex RN 2 times, I want to try PN. Please advise me

Published

I took nclex RN twice, first time 75 failed, second time 265 (April 4, 2007) failed . I am really down, don't know what to do now. I really want to work because I was staying home lat 8 months. I am thinking about taking nclex PN (LPN) before I take next RN. I want to have one of the certification.

My concerns: Are the LPN study materials totally different? I do not want to spend too much time for PN. Am I going to get confused between RN and LPN materials? If I fail PN , is there any issue for me taking RN again?

Please help me....

You need to study smart. I believe the first thing you need to do is to identify your weakness areas, what kind of questions you are not answering correctly and why, then work to improve those areas. Read the question carefully and try to identify the real issue. Most of those questions are to use logic and common sense

Yes, I am trying to find my weakness. Please give me some suggestions on PN.

Thank You....

Hi to you!I took nclex RN exam for 3 times and failed, no work for a year already. Im thinking the same to take nclex LPN.. but Ill take it after i take the nclex RN for the 4rth time. My advice is have time to go to bookstore near you and look for any review for LPN then try to browse it and think if you can pass it.. on that way youll feel if its for you.

Have friends that after they took their nclex-rn exam and failed after a week they took nclex-pn exam and passed. So it depends on us how capable are we to adjust the approach on a specific field.

I am not really sure if you CAN take the nclex pn. We were told by our school that if you didn't take the pn after first year, and then took the rn boards and failed that the nclex would not let you go back and try to test for rn. If you find out different let me know!! and good luck.

My advice to you: Perseverance is the key to success. Do not give up. Keep trying till you succeed. You are not alone in terms of failing more than once. We cannot give up by trying to make our dreams come true or to accomplish our goals, because in the final analysis not only it will bring us satisfaction but also we will realize it was indeed worth it.

try and try until you succeed. be a registered RN. soon we will have our turn. we will ace it.

long ago, out of desperation when i failed the first try, i phoned the LVN-CA board and asked if a BSN-RN foreign grad can apply to sit on Nclex PN exam, the operator said yes right away. that was last Dec. dont know if it is really that accurate.

I used Health Career Concepts. They have free study guides, free flash cards amd free quizzes. The study guides guide you day by day on what to read, what questions to answer and what audio cds to listen to. I passed with them after 2 failures! check it out: http://www.healthcareerconcepts.com

Good luck! Cleo

I'd recommend not caving in and writing the NCLEX-PN. I've written and failed NCLEX-RN four times and have spent almost US$4000 in the process. I'm gonna try again...maybe next summer or in 2008. I'm just gonna keep going because this is my only choice in life. There is nothing else I can do except stay at home and be a SAHM (stay-at-hom-mom). But my husband is an English Teacher at the university-level in the Middle East. Eventually, we need to come home where EFL jobs are scarce (in the US). SO, I must be become the principle bread-winner. I can't be principle bread-winner and kept failing NCLEX-RN so I'm gonna keep trying (like you should!)

thank you all, based on your comments and experience, i am going to try rn again. i thought i mastered the content and i practiced so many questions from kaplan and learning extension. my issue is priority questions. i was trying to get a book on exam strategies and found the “saunders strategies for success for the nclex-rn® examination” book with ok rating. i didn’t buy yet. i am hoping that some of you would recommend a book. then, i am planning to do some more sample questions.

please tell me if there is any good book on strategies for the nclex-rn.

thanks again.
