Where is a list of reputable and accredited RN to BSN distance learning programs in the US? Are US programs better quality and more widely respected? Also, is a bachelorette degree = bachelors degree? Why are Indiana State University (ISU) and Execulior College mentioned quite a lot? Are they good programs? I'm an Asian RN working in the Middle East, so English is my second language. What's the usual TOEFL or IELTS score for admission to these US programs? Thanks. Snoopynurse

Can non-Phillipino nurses who happen to be in the Phillpines find some jobs in Saudi at POEA? Or does POEA accept Filipino nationals only?

I don't have a BSN but I only have an RN license (from South Korea). I know that all I need to work in the US is NCLEX-RN. I'm planning to write the CGNFS Qualifying Exam this Fall. This, I hope, will warm me up for the dreaded NCLEX-RN (my 5th go at it!) I want to get a BSN (1) if I decide to practice nursing in Canada, and (2) to get a good nursing job in the Persian Gulf, it looks good to have a BSN. So...is there a list of accredited overseas BSN courses?

Is there a list of accredited BSc and BSN programs overseas? I'm looking at "College of Health Sciences" in Bahrain (in Middle East). It is managed by the Ministry of Health, Bahrain. If I do a degree there, how can I know if it will be recognized by American and Canadian hospitals, CGFNS, and the licensing bodies? Also, what's the difference between a BSN and a BSc in nursing?

I've used NSNA's NCLEX-RN Review, 5th edition (2005) from Thomson Learning. NSNA means National Student Nurses Association. But I haven't passed the test yet...so I don't know how valid this book may be. I hired a tutorer and he suggested using this book. Actually working as an assistant nurse before writing the test may be the best textbook. Working for a little while may give you the nursing common sense that you need to ace the test.

I appreciate Pam and Suzanne for my situation. I'm going to consider working for awhile here where I'm living (in the Middle East) and perhaps take the NCLEX-RN later on. If I ever want to work in the US, I'll need to pass it. Are NCLEX-RN test questions written for people who have worked for a little while in a nursing job (hence, the questions test the logic and common sense of nurses) or are they written for people fresh out of nursing college who want to start work?

I enrolled in the online NCSBN Learning Extension and found it unhelpful and confusing. It asked only a few questions and had a lot of content that I could get from my nursing books. There seemed to be endless pages of content with only a few questions at the end that supposedly tested your grasp of the content. The actual NCLEX-RN-type questions were OK but no feedback (i.e., rationales) afterwards. I'd suggest Kaplan or something else.

I had tried the Mosby CAT service for a month but I didn't use it that much. Has it helped you to see how to answer NCLEX_RN questions? It was good to fine-tune but not to enhance my critical thinking or logic skills (which I think are my greatest need). I felt I couldn't get at my underlying skills. I did the questions, read the feedback (correct answers & rationale), but couldn't get at the process used to come to that answer. The rationale explained briefly how the answer was found but not enough. Sure, I understood how the answer was found for THAT particular question, but it didn't help me with finding answers to other questions. I need help in learning HOW to answer NCLEX-RN questions. I don't think there is "a secret way" but requires hard work. I'm willing to do this (I've spent almost 5 years of my wife studying for this thing). Where can I find this way to answer NCLEX-RN questions?

What is the American Way of Nursing? Does this mean critical thinking & logic skills? How can I learn or enhance these?

I'd recommend not caving in and writing the NCLEX-PN. I've written and failed NCLEX-RN four times and have spent almost US$4000 in the process. I'm gonna try again...maybe next summer or in 2008. I'm just gonna keep going because this is my only choice in life. There is nothing else I can do except stay at home and be a SAHM (stay-at-hom-mom). But my husband is an English Teacher at the university-level in the Middle East. Eventually, we need to come home where EFL jobs are scarce (in the US). SO, I must be become the principle bread-winner. I can't be principle bread-winner and kept failing NCLEX-RN so I'm gonna keep trying (like you should!)

How can I order this $35 Mosby online CAT? When I buy it, does it just give me access to the website and the 30-minute access to the test? When I looked at one bookselling website, it referred to a hardcover book? Is there anything like that? What would you do for the last 3 months before taking the test? Just doing practice tests, or practice tests with studying content? How much time would you spend (just before writing the test) on doing practice tests and questions?

I've studied nursing content & skills for a number of months. I now wish to start writing sample tests. Where can I find sample NCLEX-RN tests? Are there any online, CD-ROMs, or in paper? If I do the samples on CD-ROM or on paper, would it be much different from doing the actual CAT version at Pearson?
