Failed NCLEX-RN 1st Attempt

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

This bold phase in capitalized letters, "HAS NOT PASSED" revealed in front of my eyes as I stared at my NCLEX RN exam result in a thin envelope mail sent from CA BRN. The waiting period of 15 days came to end. My hopes for a bright future in nursing came crashing down. My voice started to cry out, "You're a dead fish!" My school will harsly criticized me. My professors will firmly believe that I have a "significant" language barrier because English is not my first language. They already started to profile anyone whose English is not his or her language to fail NCLEX RN when I came to school. I knew from beginning that I was a suspect to fail NCLEX-RN. Now, I have became a real statistic for the school to celebrate. Not only my school, but also my family will now doubt my intelligence. My parents supported me for almost 4 years to finish nursing school, now they feel they have wasted their time and money on me. Last but at least, my peers will be laughing at my failure. I am a grown man, but failing NCLEX-RN on first attempt have reduced me down to a level of dirt for my professors, family and peers to step0n.

I appreciated this forum to share my experience of failing NCLEX-RN.

Your by NO means a failure!! Lot of Intelligent people are not successful the first time around, and lot of incompetent people pass. I'm always amazed at people that goto school where English isnt their first language and how they are able to cope! You can do it!! Sit down take a breather and write up a study schedule, and get back on the horse! best of luck!!

Thank you very much for reading and replying my post. I am no longer having resentments toward anyone who doubted my ability to pass NCLEXRN. Most importantly, I no longer attacking myself. It took me about 2 months to just let it go. I am waiting to take my NCLEXRN for the second time in August. I know I will pass the test and come back here to share my good news with the people. Once I have passed my NCLEXRN, I swear to God, I will help others pass it too. I got a few missiles on my hands to blast that CAT into pieces.

Speaking another language is a plus and should not be a reason for failing the nclex. English is my second language and I passed the nclex the first try with 75 questions. What you need to do, pick yourself back up and start studying, do not focus on what others are saying. If you can graduate from nursing school, you can pass the nclex. My friend is from Japan, only been in the US for 4 years, has a very strong accent, passed the nclex first try with 75 questions.

Remember, determination is key to success. Good luck to you!

did you try the pearsons vue trick???

what's the trick? I never heard of it

there are the steps for the pv trick. i copied it from whydavewhys post.

here are the exact steps to see if you passed or failed the nclex exam on the pearson vue web site:

1) go to http://www.vue.com/nclex.

2) select the 'test taker services' tab at the top.

3) click 'register' on the right side.

4) click the 'credit card' link.

5) click the 'sign in' link in the second sentence.

6) enter your username.

7) enter your password.

8) click the button.

9) click 'register' on the left side.

10) select your test type.

11) click the button.

12) select your country.

13) click the button.

14) answer the yes/no questions.

15) select your country again.

16) select your state.

17) type in your city.

18) click the button. a list of schools should appear.

19) select your school.

20) select the month and year of your graduation.

21) select your board of nursing.

22) click the button.

very important: at this point, if you get a pop up that says 'the candidate currently has test results that are on hold. a new registration cannot be created at this time.', it has nothing to do with passing or failing; it just means that they are reviewing your records due to random reviews that they conduct, or because they needed to locate some data or papers, etc. this means you will possibly have to wait a few more days than your friends who did not get this message. if you get the message 'our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. please contact your member board for further assistance. another registration cannot be made at this time.', that means you passed. if you do not get either message and go straight to the credit card information page, that means you did not pass.

HI

Been there! Do it again and you will PASS, YES YOU WILL.

RN NCLEX 2 time gail!

Specializes in OB, Peds, Med Surg and Geriatric Nsg.

I failed my first time in the NCLEX but I would never give up.

And you should not too.

There are people here that took NCLEX 3-5 times before they made it.

Though I blamed myself for a while for not being prepared when I took it the 1st time.

I only took a month to study everthing which is pretty dumb of me too.

Passing the NCLEX-RN is my sole prospect to get a job here in the US since I'm an internationally trained nurse.

Now, I'm studying my butt off to redeem myself and prove that I could pass this test. No matter how hard it is. I'll sit in that examining chair till the PC shuts off.

Never give up. Move on and give it another try. Good Luck to you!

Dont' give up. I failed during my first take too. I am already an RN in our country and it was an awakening for me. It's a different setting here I rationalized (just justifyng my failure).

I took my 2nd test last Aug. 28th and I am still waiting for the result.

If I fail again, then I'll take again till it get tires of me and let me pass.

OP, I'm sorry you didn't pass on 1st attempt. But I'm not sure why you want to play down people whose English is their second-language?

It's nothing to do with English-as-2nd-language, it's just you, as an individual, didn't pass, for various reasons. There are Americans who didn't pass on 1st attempt either.

Overall, I feel uncomfortable on your stressing your English as a 2nd language. It's not like we are doomed to be inferior just because English is not our native language. Me, also English-as-a-2nd language, even though I worked full-time & studied full-time all the way through the nursing program, and I did not have any prior background in healthcare, I still graduated with honor, a top grade in class, with majority of American students who didn't work at all. I also passed NCLEX on 1st try with 75 questions.

Wish you good luck, but don't blame English as a 2nd language. That's not the reason.

Hey, don't lose hope. I failed the first time too and I am an international student and english is not my first language too. But I am taking this test again for the second time. I must admit I felt depressed too when i found out the results that I failed but I realized it's not the end of the world. I can still take the exam again and this time I studied and understands the content more than I did before. I will face that computer with confidence and I will make sure that once the computer turns blue it will mean that I pass. Just pray and ask for guidance all the time it will def help you get thru this journey. Take a rest and study again! Im sure soon you will be an RN!
