Please dont take this wrong---but did I read you correctly when you said you have attempted NCLEX 10x??

There is something missing---your obviously missing a key element to the test. I praise you for your determination, I know I for one would not have the heart to take it 10x. I am only assuming you have taken Kaplans or Hurst type of courses and followed Suzannes plan here on this forum. I am also assuming you have practiced thousands of Nclex style questions in preparation for your attempts at the test.

But the facts are you have been out of school now longer than you were in it. You have a college degree...what type of work are you doing now? Have you considered using your college degree for something besides nursing? Maybe being a drug rep, or work in medical sales, maybe administration for a hospital or hospice?

If your heart is totally set on being an actual registered nurse, you may have to go to school again, I hate to say that cause I cant imagine the debt your already in. But there is something missing in your test taking skills. You may need to find a school that has a very high pass rate and retake nursing school.

My heart goes out to you, as I could not imagine the frustration and anxiety you must be feeling.

you are right! (racing mom-4). i graduated nursing 1993 and i'm not using my profession as a nurse since then, 'till i'm here in america. i'm also thinking of going back to school, but for me it's kind of late. I'm already an LVN, and thinking of pursuing that profession 'till... But most of my friends encouraged me to go on taking the exam, cause i'm not the one, i guess there are lots of them as many as ten times than me. I really don't know, but i can't take my mind out of nursing (RN). Kind of depressing cause i really didn't make it. I did review school twice, (Kaplan and Global). I really need some............... help. i'm confused.

I am so sorry that this happened. What country are/were you in? You say that you are an LVN, have you worked as one yet? I agree with racingmom4, there must be a missing component. Is it a language barrier? I ask since your post seems to indicate that you are from another country. I understand that most foreign applicants do have a challenge with the language, how things are interpeted and such. I wish you the best.

I know lots of nurses that have failed that test several times. What they found helpful was that they took refresher courses that are offered, and just learned to relax. No I don't mean that they just decided to relax, but went for professional counseling for this kind of thing that schools and places colleges can offer. You know the information, but the test is spooking you. Please don't get discouraged. You will pass the test. You know your stuff. And you can party as soon as you pass. :heartbeat:yeah:

(pagandeeva 2000) i am from Philippines, and i am working as an LVN in a facility (DDN) for a year, just giving meds (routine meds). my part time was in a nursing homes for just 2 mos (frankly i didn't have a hard time taking my LVN i passed it the 3rd time, better than RN 10x still negative) last 2 mos, i gave up my job just to prepare for a review which i didn't make it. i don't have a job right now try to look for a new one. i don't know if its a language problem, maybe part of it. to tell you frankly this is my first time to be in this website, and i received my result yesterday that i did not pass, and i find it helpful right now, interacting somebody i don't know. i really need more advises, as i am writing this my eyes shed tears that i can't help it......cause i thought i did my best shot...

I have tried looking for them myself out of curiousity here in New York, and they seem to be few and far from where I reside, but maybe it would be worth the investment for you to do so. I still believe that you gave it your best...you are determined and did not give up thus far. Right now, I would take time to grieve a bit, since you received the results yesterday, look for another job and try a different focus. If there is, in fact, a refresher course around you that is affordable, consider taking advantage. Or, maybe an NCLEX review exam. My heart really goes out to you, and good luck!

Actually the refresher courses are only open to those that hold an actual license here in the US as an RN. Without having that, one cannot take a refresher course here.

I really appreciate all your responses. Actually, as i've read the comments, i'm thinking that i should not stop, but i guess it will take time,(i hope not that long, coz i might forget what i studied, i don't know.....) cause i'm thinking of working to pay my bills. Again thanks....:nuke:
