Failed NCLEX in 75 questions

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I failed my NCLEX the first time in 75 questions. I didn't even know that was possible. I am really struggling on how to study to take it again. I did not like UWorld personally. I felt I was exhausted after 40 questions. It just didn't work for me. Anyone have any advice on studying???? Please and thank you

Congratulations Sara! ??

@FiremedicMike Hi, is Archer is the only source that you have used to pass your NCLEX? I used Archer for my 1st and 2nd try and my assessment before my exam was high too. IDK if it was knowledge deficit or I rush myself through the test. I am trying to figure it out so I can improve for my next one.

Archer was all I used personally.  I did the assessments every few days and I watched the videos for subject areas that I knew were weak for me.

@kayisatay @CollegeKid2020 Hi, Do you guys mind to share what did you guys used preparing for the NCLEX? Thank You.

I’d say about 80% of my NCLEX prep was through UWorld and I feel that really helped me. I used it for 3 months and tried to stay consistent and do at least 1 75 question test a day. The interface looks just like the NCLEX down to the colors. I will say the questions and answer choices on UWorld were longer and a bit more specific than the NCLEX, but I think that is a good thing. UWorld is a great way to master completing questions and the rationales are so informal and teach you a lot in an easy way to understand. It is expensive, but it is worth it. I also recommend listening to Mark Klimek lectures. MyMastery and NURSING.com are okay alternatives, but not superior to UWorld in my opinion.

I usually test fast, but I took my time on the NCLEX and read each question 2-3 times. I had to use the process of elimination for at least half of the questions, but I passed with 75 questions and it took me about a 1 hour and 20 minutes. I started FNP school in August. Just don’t give up and keep chasing your dreams!! Good luck! @Coffee

I stayed with ATI throughout nursing school. Out of curiosity, I tried UWorld and did well on it too. 95% of my practice NCLEX question was with ATI provided by my school. I passed NCLEX on the first try. It was challenging. The questions were getting harder. I certainly thought I failed it. I felt awful afterward. In nursing school, I didn't feel that bad.

I recommend trying E-NCLEX.org. They are very good with NCLEX reviews.

As someone who has failed the NCLEX twice, I understand how frustrating it can be to figure out the best way to study for this exam. I also struggled with UWorld and found it to be exhausting after a certain point. However, I highly recommend checking out nursingtip.com as a study guide. This resource helped me to better understand the rationales behind questions and to approach the exam with more confidence. Don't give up hope, and keep pushing forward with your studies!

I am so sorry for your difficulty with the NCLEX. The select all that apply really can be a killer.

In my experience - I think it is important to get used to practicing difficult questions. When I took my NCLEX I passed in 75 questions and really did not think I did well (I don't think anyone leaves that test confident).

The month before my exam I would do about 50 questions every day to assist with question fatigue.

Assess what is difficult for you and focus on those topics. I would take these steps to help yourself pass the next time:

1. Study weakest material

2. 50 questions a day for last month before test

3. Look into taking a review course if financially feasible for you - I liked Kaplan

4. Watch videos on topics that are struggles for you ie. You Tube

5. Do many select all that apply to get used to them

6. Learn deep breathing and test de-stressing

Take these steps and hopefully these will help you ?

Yes I passed :). My license number was posted online about 24 hours after taking the NCLEX. I know the anticipation sucks but don't lose hope!

The good pop up is accurate after you get the email after taking your test. I got my email while sitting in the parking lot and immediately checked for the good pop up. Any good news yet? ?
