I am new to this forum. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I have failed the test 3 times. I do not know what to do??? I am going crazy.
Please give me study advise? What should I study? How should I study? The exam all 3 times as stopped around 90 questions.
Can I get a job in the nursing field without passing my Nclex test?
I did a private course in LA for one year. I feel like a failure.

No doubt there is some test anxiety. Hope that gets easier. Stick with it and you will pass. If you have any doubts, come to my LTC and look at some of the LPN's and you will know that it is doable. Then come to the Hospital I work at and look at some of the RN's and again you will know that it is doable.
I jest but practice the NCLEX books out there and they may help ease the anxiety.
Best wishes:bow:

Well, at least your parents know, so, if you wish to disappear to refocus, no one will worry about you. And, also, consider not communicating with your former classmates at this time. I stayed away from EVERYONE until I found that I passed the exam. I blocked my email, looked real hard at my caller ID, and for those that did reach me, I was downright rude. There was nothing any of them could have done to help me in that test. Hearing that some people who you least expected passed and those that graduated with honors that failed...did a head trip on me. Listening about their successes and failures was no indication of how I was going to fare on that exam because it was highly individualized.
I remember how everyone used to log on to the state BON website to check and see whose names were on there, and estimating who probably failed, and it was a horror! Good luck!

Hey try to relax. I know it's hard but don't be so rough on yourself. You did the best you could. A guy I went to school with which had honors his stopped at 93 and he passed. I took mine and passed at 85. The number you stop at doesn't mean you failed or passed. It's hard not knowing. I live in Ca and a few other people on here also and we all went insane waiting for the results. Are you in Ca???? I know you passed just try to relax... Good luck
Hi I'm new to this site. Anyway I just took the NCLEX last thursday and sad to say that I failed it again !!! This is my third time taking this exam and this time I actual came really close I had above passing in everything except one area! I study Kaplan and it really helped me alot but for some reason something is just not clicking ! I also have a Saunders review book but I nevered actual read the whole book . I have been to the Hurst review twice and it was helpful but I nevered took the test right after the review so I feel like that could have been my fault . Do anyone have any suggestions?
There are many suggestions for ways to prepare. What works for you is what you are looking for. Sit down and think about it for awhile. Analyze your own study habits and test taking. What has worked for you in the past? It stands to reason that just hitting it lightly or not being consistent or focused in your study probably won't work. I would suggest that you devise a study plan, put it down on paper and put goals on a study calendar, and begin. If you have failed, then regroup and do it again. As many times as it takes. Not too long ago we had someone post who finally passed, I believe, on her seventh try. If it takes this, then go for it. It would be just as much a shame to give up after six tries as to give up after one try. Persistence will always win out in the end. Good luck to all who are getting ready for the exam, whether for the first time or the fourth.

Do you think that your family will actually be hard on you if you tell them you failed? I suspect not, that they would rally to your support. I can see not mentioning it to friends and co-workers, but this can be a lonely time for you, and you need support.
I think that doing 1000 questions a day may be a bit much. The CD has about maybe 3000+, and this would mean that you would be repeating the same questions over and over, meanwhile they may not be similar to what NCLEX will ask you. Also, overstudying may add more stress. I do think that you should try and get ahold of other CDs such as Incredibly Easy, Delmar's, Mosby, etc to see different styles of questions.
I think that you have to reapply in 45 days, so, that, in itself will take a bit of time, gathering the money, waiting for the ATT, and if your state is slow in scheduling, it may take about 2 months to get this going again. Maybe right now, take a bit of time to nurse your wounds and make your study plan.
In the meantime, try breaking up the nursing domains; meaning that maybe for two weeks, focus on med-surg, two weeks on maternal health, then pediatrics, then psych. If you have several CD ROMS and ONE study guide (you say you are using Saunders), then, the areas that you appear weak in are the areas you can focus more practice questions on. Also, read the rationales of the answers, whether you got them right or not.
I do think you should tell your family, though. As long as you feel that they will be supportive of you, rather than criticize and humiliate you, that is. And truthfully, even then, you should still consider telling them. They may start telling everyone else that you passed, adding even more stress to your situation. People calling you, asking where you will begin to work, and all of that might drive you insane. Also, if you go and stay with your friend, they may wonder why. At least, if they know that you will be in seclusion, they won't worry about you. And, you may be surprized...they may do all that they can to give you the support that you need at this time. Good luck!
