Trying to pick up the pieces and they just keep falling. I failed my exam on 7/01/08, and I took a 3 week break, and tried to start over, and just can't seem to get motivated.I have Suzanne's plan, and I purchased the 4th adition. New into the 3rd week of the New Year, I am trying to find a new motivation to review and study, and break the wall of this exam, and just don't know where to start. Although I have the materials, and the steps in Suzanne's plan, I just don't know where to begin.....
HELP...
I am open to all feedback!:crying2::crying2::crying2:

I failed also for the first time and im still waiting for the results again.Regardless of the outcome, Im prepared and will accept the reality. At first, it will really hurt but it is where in ur point of life where u can see how strong u really are as an individual. Just think of it as a challenge for u to stand up again and have the courage to face the truth. It is better that u failed now, rather than passing the exam too early that u lack the knowledge and skills in nursing and would be a reason for your loss of licence eventually. I know it really sucks but then its not only you who faces this kind of trail in this stage of our nursing profession. So cheer up and I hope that both of us will soon be a part of our chosen field. And remember this: Failure is part of success.
Thank you Pinksunflower. I appreciate your words of encouragement. I can't sit around and wait, and after reading your message, I realize that's what I have been doing! waiting around, thinking things will change for me to find my way to pass is really not the answer. And yes, failure is a part of success. Reminds me of Mickey Rooney's statement...
"You always pass failure on the way to success."

Sorry to hear you did not pass the first time. I am glad you took a break and are ready to get back to studying. You are not alone. We are all here to support you. Start off by remembering why you chose nursing in the first place. Then start your studies with Suzanne's first tip. Follow her program just as she has it in the stickies. You can do this. You will pass the NCLEX. You will be a nurse. You will be a great nurse. Hang in there. As my preceptor said to me ," It is not how many times you fall that matters, it is how many times you pick yourself back up which counts."
GOOD LUCK.:heartbeat
Awww, Melinurse, thank you for the kind words. I remember you, too when you were posting sometime in the Summer 08. Thanks again, I am getting there with the motivating words from you all. Thanks again.
My preceptor at the hospital failed her boards and she is so incredibly smart. The Clinical Nurse Specialist failed her boards twice. They are both amazing nurses and you will be too. You will be successful.

Consider the time between learning of your failure and now as your "break". Devise a study plan and get a calendar. Mark goals for yourself and start tomorrow. Tell yourself that you need the license to get the new job that you will need because you have to pay for all the schooling, or buy that new car, or whatever it is that you will get for yourself with your new income. You can do this. Get your plan tonight and start in the morning. Good luck.
Thank you caliotter. I have a separate calendar for myself and thinking I should integrate it with my work calendar. I am just afraid of bombarding all my work goals over my study goals. Time has lapsed for so long. It's going on 3 years since I graduated from nursing school, and I need to step it up and get the reviewing back on track. I am going to follow Suzanne's plan and have my Saunders book, but I just don't know where to begin, all over again. I have been told though to study as if I am studying all over again. Is this the way to go?

it looks like we are going through the same phase. it's been three years since i graduated, no job yet. i am angry at myself for not passing. and my momentum in studing is a bit low but i am pushing myself everynight to put in atleast 3hrs in reviewing content with saunders book. pray as well as you go along with your studies, so God will give you the strength, courage to focus on your studies. we will surely overcome it one day. goodluck.

You just need to start from the beginning as if you have never tested before. And this is going to be a new exam and different in everyway from what you wrote last summer. Just look at it that way.
You need to complete the first tip as it is posted again, before you do one other thing. This is the only way to see what you remember and what you need extra help with.
You can do it.
