Failed Nclex, not a good feeling

Published

Hey everyone! 😁This is my very first post.

Took my exam on Monday and went through 265 questions. I felt confident because I was doing so well in Kaplan, around %65-%80 on qbanks. But I felt horrible after the exam, couldn't even drive. I tried the PVT trick and it lead me to the receipt page, I re-registered. It was the worse feeling!!! After that I didn't even want to view my quick results because I dislike the word FAIL. I still gave it a try and it just reconfirmed me failing.

Anyways, I always read here about people doing the PVT and having the good pop up, not enough about people who went through it and go to the receipt page.

After that I renewed Kaplan and I will purchase NCSBN's LearningExt or whatever it's called. Will go over content for sure. I also plan on buying LaChairty's PDA book.

Now I'm just waiting to schedule another exam day.

Is there anything else I should be doing but missing??????? If I am please please let me know, would soooo appreciate it.

One question, I registered with Pearson. Do I need to register with the state I'm in?

I haven't yet because I just got the result today.

NCLEX is actually surprisingly different than I thought before I took the test. Are you planning to start reviewing soon after got the CPR?

It would be nice to get a study buddy

UWorld is an online resource with a lot of questions with great rationals. I have done NCSBN and it is great and I like the questions. But I found the UWorld questions to be a little bit more challenging. Don't get me wrong I like NCSBN and learned a lot from there, but if you finish the qbank or feel like you are ready to step it up a notch, check out UWorld. The way it is formatted looks exactly like the NCLEX so it is great practice for the real thing.

Many times yes. CA and other states you must reapply and pay to retake. Other states you reapply without a fee so the BoN knows to issue the ATT

Thanks JustBeachyNurse, you've been very helpful! í ½í¸

JpGasmine, I havent heard of uworld. I hope it's not expensive. I can afford NCSBN's, my friend said its just $70 for about 1200 questions or so.

Two books you need:

1. Lacharity Prioritization-

2. Pearson Reviews and Rationales for NCLEX-RN by Maryann Hogan latest edition and do all the internet work involved. If you go through this book (and it will take you a long, long time plus all the questions in book and online) you don't need a review class. You do the first knowledge assessment and you'll be like "what?....." I don't remember that from school but you'll see it on the NCLEX and the questions are just like the toughies on the NCLEX, some all sound right and other questions they all sound wrong. But this book gets you used to that so you don't panic on the test, it gets you used to answering questions that you might not even know what they are talking about, especially since meds went straight to generic without brand name.

I failed the first time I took the NCLEX, I was so bummed when I found out I failed.

- Breathe, relax and and Keep calm because you know more than you think!

- The receipt page does not mean you failed! do not assume!

-Its ok you can do it again. keep drilling.

-The good news if you did fail, you now know what the questions are like.

-Use other resources besides Kaplan to practice. I Did Hurst. it was super.

I messed up the first time because i was so nervous. I had note cards taped to me desk reminding to breathe.

what about u world? i had both uworld and ncsbn... i really like uworld...hard questions tons of the alternative ones and sata. around 1500. great rationals..much better than ncsbn.. i passed nclex...i did over 4000 questions...it defenetly helped me..

u can find free 7 day trial for uworld on FB.. 1 month 40$...3 month 80$

Have your tried ATI

I found that I personally like that best. Good luck

Your scores on Kaplan were pretty solid. What happened on test day? Were you extremely nervous? I passed in 75 and my scores weren't even close to the 70's when doing Kaplan.
