Failed nclex first time and took it again today

As I was looking on the computer for the different states that let nurses work as graduate nurses I came across this website. I took the test 45 days ago and failed at 120ish and just took it again this morning. I've been crying all day. I studied my little heart out and got up to 90. This feels like torture, while I know that their are worst things in the world...in my small world it feels like the end of it. The scariest part is if I do fail I'm not sure if I have the strength to pick myself up again and study AGAIN. Also this is almost making me want to be a nurse becuase it seems so difficult. I like to plan out evreything I have a job, an apartment now all I need is to read the words PASS. I'm glad I came across this website because I felt very alone. Almost all of my friends from nursing school have passed so it makes me feel so stupid. Anybody know anybody that passed or failed at 90? Also does anybody know of the states that offer nurses to work as graduate nurses? Do you think they will hire you after have failed the nclex?? I need some type of job!

Hi. First off I just wanted to say best of luck with your results. The amount of questions is simply just that...a number. Statistically, the odds are in your favor. I'm hoping you passed this time around. I noticed you're from MA. Me too. :) Too bad GN positions are illegal here...i know they have GN positions in places like NJ, i think NY, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut I think..i'm sure there are more...was thinking of states closer to MA. But again, i wish you the best of luck! Please don't give up. :icon_hug: Let us know when you find out your results. Oh and its torture looking for a new grad position here!!! :uhoh21:

It is my understanding that you are a graduate nurse only for 90 days after graduation or until you take NCLEX which ever comes first. So in answer to your question, I don't believe you can work as a graduate nurse now. Hopefully this is a moot question because you passed this morning.

The amount of time one is allowed to work as a GN varies greatly, but you are correct in that one cannot work as a graduate nurse once one has taken the NCLEX. After that, you are either licensed to work as a nurse, or....not.

To the OP: have heart! You don't know that you've failed at all. This test is miserable, pure and simple, and those who pass with 75 questions often feel like vomiting and crying for days afterward until the results come in. The number of questions is irrelevant, so don't try to read much into it. Do you have the Quick Results option where you live?

I passed with 83 questions if that helps make you feel a little better :) Good luck were all pulling for you :) For some reason I have the gut feeling you passed :) Just a gut feeling though not sure why (I am an intuitive but I never EVER say anything for sure)

We're all pulling for you! Do not despair in advance, there'll be plenty of time afterward to feel bad if the worse happens...In the meantime, remember that the odds are in your favor plus you will know really soon how you did. The question number is irrelevant, as I've learned here.

Best of luck and I'll enjoy seeing your "I passed!!!" as soon as you know you did!
