hi ya'll! so I failed. Found it out this morning and I am already enthusiastic to start this second phase of review. (God pls help me)
Lil background: I am a RN in the Philippines and just got here in the US a few months back. I am currently in Tx. I took nclex-RN last Dec16 got through freakin torture with 265 questions! And I failed.
My exam was very kaplan like but I hate how kaplan did the rationale. In short probably I lacked the content that I needed to pass the exams.
If you guys have resources thats free, please I am begging you to share it ??? Really dont have the money to purchase another course. Kaplan cost me $400 and it didnt help me. Do you guys have Hurst videos I can look into? please help. xoxo

I took the exam yesterday and today i found out i passed. I am also from the ph. I just read Saunders and PDA. I took ncsbn review course 3 weeks for the questions only and some content such as cpr. I didn't do kaplan because its expensive. I watched videos online too. Nclex 3500 is nice for content too.
Wow! Congrats!
I have a 2 yr old toddler running around so I really couldnt focus. I graduated 2009 which i simply could not recall anything anymore. (They are basically excuses) lol
I will try ncsbn this time. I still have 1 more month with kaplan so I will use it while I still can.
Thanks! and also can you give me links to videos you accessed if its not asking too much. Coz the videos in kaplan sucks. They just read the book.???

I understand your situation. The nclex really needs time and focus especially to us who graduated years ago. I studied 12 hours a day, for 2 months straight. It felt like my brain was about to explode. Just watch videos on youtube. Search for Michael linares. I got 1 nclex question about a heart medication and thanks to him I'm confident i picked the right answer (i think). If you don't fully understand a topic, just look it up on youtube like proper use of crutch or pathophysiology of HIV, Alzheimer's and etc. I'm going to share my study tips in another post soon.

I just passed board exam in my thrid attempt... If u wanna pass the board exam read the book 5 times which the other passers told me like the saunders or pearson book that u like to read.. I first read the whole book od saunders but I did not read it again for the second attempt because I kinda have a hard time familiarizing it so I read my Pearson comprehensive review book twice and its not about reading am familiarizing it and i also took all those question after every chapter.. Then I took kaplan online for the first time for strategies in test taking which really helps me Alot.. Just keep familiarizing the book and learn how to use the strategies in test takimg... you will pass the next time around...

Before you go rushing out and blindly studying content, know that by going 265 and failing means that you were very close to passing for the entire duration of the exam. Try looking at how you answer questions instead of just at content. I found that the Saunders 6E book (and I think it had a computer program too) and the NCLEX 4000 program were good for showing me basically how to pick apart the questions a little better so I could figure out what kind of question I was being asked and therefore how to best answer it.
I'm also a very fast test taker, at least for standard exams. I'm known for being one of the first to finish an exam. Sometimes that bites me in the backside because my speed can also allow me to misread a question and therefore answer it incorrectly. I've had exam grades change from an A to B simply because I misread a question. So, I also had to learn to slow down and really read questions, then the answers and then reread the question before I answer it because I'm looking for any key words or phrases that may help me narrow down the answers to the correct one.
I passed the NCLEX the first time, at 75 questions, in about an hour or so, by basically slowing down and focusing on just the one question that is in front of me. One question at a time. Questions I just answered and the ones that I'm going to answer do not matter. Just the one I'm working on right now.
