I am still avidly looking for a job in my current State which is a non-compact state. I'd like to know for those who have expanded their job search to other states, or who landed a job in another state did you apply for endorsement with those states first then start your search in the new states. I was considering joining one of the compact states which would really expand my job hunt. Or should I just keep trying my own state because there are still other hospitals I am yet to apply to even though they are 3-5 hours away.
Yea i think looking outside of your current state is a good thing. I was hired out of state, luckily for me it's with the VA hospital so I didn't have to apply for endorsement since they accept any state licensure.
But I think as a new grad it is important to expand your job search to not just ur city or state provided u have the means to do so
The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) allows nurses to have one multistate license, with the ability to practice in both their home state and other party states.

I've gotten licensed by endorsement 3 times in the many years of my career. It may feel like an expensive process, but it usually isn't a prolonged process. You can reasonably wait for a job offer to file the paperwork for a license. These days you can download the forms and assure that you know the requirements. You'll have to have a background check done so knowing when you interview how long the process will probably take will make it reasonable for you to agree to a starting date that will allow you to be licensed by that date. Best wishes for your job hunt and your career. :)
