I just wanted to share that i started exercising to reduce my stress levels and the results are phenomenal. Running or biking in the gym for a half hour soothes me and allows me to focus. Anyone else had the same results?

You know, that is so true. I used to think it was all hoopla. I was like, "aww, exercise can't really reduce the kind of stress and anxiety I'm having". But you know what? This morning, I walked my daughter to her daycamp, which is only a few blocks away. I wasn't trying to get exercise, she just wanted to walk today. And I'm a really nervous, anxious, constantly stressed out kind of person. And I noticed that today, I'm not nervous at all. And this is 2 or 3 hours after I walked. So the effect is long lasting. I didn't even think to contribute it to my brief walk this morning.
I am here to tell the world that exercise is the best stress-reducing, anxiolytic in the world. :balloons:

Absolutely. For years I've been convinced that exercise has kept me off of antidepressants and out of the looney bin. :)

I too have used exercise for stress relief. Gotta credit my parents for raising me with that in mind.
The more you do it, the better it works.

I found it to be very helpful when I was quitting smoking recently. It made a big difference with the irritability. And it had a positive feedback kind of effect because I was able to see how quitting smoking had a positive effect on my exercise capacity/performance. It would have been ideal if I could have exercised twice a day to get a sustained effect on my mood.
Yoga is great for it's calming effect - better than any benzo!
It makes me wonder if the depression/anxiety surge is just a result of our sedentary society

Over the last few years, exercise, 5-days a week has been one of the major changes in my life. I found a remarkable transformation. As I developed this habit, the drive to accomplish things has been strengthened. I feel better, look better and actually look forward to living a longer, healthier life with the help of a healthy lifestyle and continuing support from my Heavenly Father.

better than medications isnt it
Golf is good also
glad to see people are using exercise and natural ways of coping with stress instead of medications that have downsides to them. I will gladly keep on jogging and lifting.
Pizza works for depression also
nothing like a good meat lovers pizza with triple jalapenos on it to cure my depression
does make me a little gassy though

Gardening works like a charm for me. It's not "make-work" exercise, which I hate with a passion; not only do I get a great whole-body workout, I'm actually creating a thing of beauty, and that too is stress-reducing.

I agree that exercise is a great stress reliever. often when I go I really have to drag myself there but afterwards I'm buzzing! It's also done wonders for my waistline too!
