Excelsior LPN to RN

Nursing Students Excelsior

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is currently taking the Excelsior LPN to RN ... and how goes it??!!

I'm not sure of this program, but I thought I would bite the bullet & try to pass the 1st of the 7 exams required.

I am also wondering why it is that you do not have to enroll to take the 1st two exams - Health Safety & Transition? Are they easier than the 5 remaining exams, and is this their way of getting you to take the worm? Or, are they harder than the 5 remaining exams - which would "weed out" the serious from those who aren't?

Thank you!

Hello, everyone. Considering Excelsior and have a question. Is anyone from OH and do you know if Excelsior grads are hired? Thanks!

I am thinkinking of beginning this program. Looking for any advice, tips, etc? Anyone had success with the program?

Did you successfully complete the program? How long did it take?

Can i ask you a question? Where can i find a good company if i decide to go to Excelsior for the week that will teach me how to pass the CPNE? also, is there any good scholorships that will help me pay for this program??

I am planning on doing the same thing, taking ALL my pre-reqs at my community college than going to Excelsior, but what did u mean u Clep'd 24 of the classes? why would u need to do that???

I'm confused now

Thank you,

Nicole...LPN who needs my RN!

Also is this program possible to do while WORKING!

omg, I live in wash pa, I have been thinking about attending this college as well, have u started?

EC accepts most (but not all) CLEP, DSST and UexCel exams - they are challenge exams, study and take the exam and you get credit - the good thing about CLEP & DSST is they are less than $100 - cheaper than taking a class! So alot of people try to get their pre-reqs done like intro to psych, intro to soc, humanities, etc. through CLEP or DSST

Hello! I am new to this site and forum. I know/see that there are a lot of discussions on Excelsior and would love to chat with someone who has just graduated RN from Excelsior! I am almost finished with my LPN and am considering doing Excelsior. Any and all info/tips would greatly be appreciated! I am mainly concerned over the three day clinical exam. I hear there is not a high passage rate.

Please advise!

Thank you!!!

You get out of it what you put in! Excelsior is great if you are self-motivated and really want to learn nursing. I passed taking one class per month finishing in a little less than a year including the NCLEX. No failures, no repeats and passed the NCLEX in 70 questions. That being said, it was challenging, scary and stressful but today I am working in a busy ER and really happy that I did the program.

Now this is 2nd hand, but the impression I got from people's accounts of the CPNE is that those who fail do so because they don't prepare. A lot of LPNs with mass experience thinking they can just run in and pass it with out prep work.

Sometimes that is the reason, but I have known nurses who prepared like crazy and still didn't pass. The small things can trip you up - wording on a care plan, doing something out of order. Attention to detail is key, as is staying organized and controlling nerves.

Hi, I need advice and guidance. I recently got my LPN this May. I went today to take the TEAS V, and didn't get the 65 the school that I went to, to get my LPN. I got a 57%. I decided to look up which on line school would be best, because I really want to become a RN. Oh yea, we all had asked the Dean in my school at the time we were in the program why doesn't the school just let us bridge over? She said it's just school policy. Okay, so I've been reading about Excelsior. I did some research on it and it seems like a legit school, and it has gotten great reviews from a lot of people here on allnurses.com. I called them up today and spoke to someone, and they were super nice, and told me I go according to my life's schedule. I was told I can finish in 12 months if I want. I set up an appointment with a guidance counselor for Tuesday morning in a public place. I have all of my pre-requisites up to Bachelor for Nursing Degree. I see that they take all classes and it doesn't matter how old they are. So what would you all advise me? I am going to write all of my questions down and bring them with me in the meeting and also take notes.

Is it smart to go through College Network in order to get to Excelsior? They said they're connected to them???
