Excelsior LPN to RN

Published

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is currently taking the Excelsior LPN to RN ... and how goes it??!!

I'm not sure of this program, but I thought I would bite the bullet & try to pass the 1st of the 7 exams required.

I am also wondering why it is that you do not have to enroll to take the 1st two exams - Health Safety & Transition? Are they easier than the 5 remaining exams, and is this their way of getting you to take the worm? Or, are they harder than the 5 remaining exams - which would "weed out" the serious from those who aren't?

Thank you!

Is it smart to go through College Network in order to get to Excelsior? They said they're connected to them???

NO!!!! They are not connected. They are not affiliated. They are not recommended. TCN is nothing more than an expensive publishing company that will sell you $10,000-$16,000 worth of non-guaranteed study guides on top of EC's fees & tuition. The "financing" is a high interest private loan (not a student loan despite what TCN sales reps say which lately people have reported some unscrupulous, illegal collection activities)

Oh yea, I live in Central Florida a.k.a Ocala, Fl

OMG! I have an appointment with them on Tuesday!

Okay so basically just go on the website of Excelsior College and directly contact them for their online Bridge Program instead .... right?

Yes. IMHO cancel the appt with the college network unless you like high pressured sales. Contact EC directly.

As soon as I saw your post about not going to them, I was like OMG I almost made a big mistake lol! Yes, so I went on Excelsior College official website and I got their toll free phone number and I just called to see what days and time they're open so Monday they open at 8 a.m. so I'll be calling them at that time. I did some more research on Excelsior's website so it seems they want current license, and your pre requisites for the A.S. but they didn't indicate if the amount of years matter or not. I want to establish my schooling before I get like a part time job too.

It also looks like they have help for their students too, I believe.

A&P and micro must be within the past 5 years. If initially licensed within the past 5 years exempted from one exam/class

I'm gonna have to look at my unofficial transcrtipt because I think I'm safe.

my A & P I and II are more than covered, but my Microbiology was done in Spring 2009 (I hated that class, but I passed w/ C grade). I really hope they don't make me take it again!

I am proud to say I have completed all nursing courses and all but 2 core which I will begin taking in July for 8 weeks then I will take my 2 nursing assessment courses. Excelsior College and staff have been excellent to me and my education! Excited getting near the finish line !!!

brandymurray3 wow that's great congrats! Can you share with me like how to go about basically from the first thing they will give me to do??? How were you able to be successful with them??? So the Staff does help the students from the time they enter through the last classes and such???? How long did it take you to get up to this point??
