  1. You get out of it what you put in! Excelsior is great if you are self-motivated and really want to learn nursing. I passed taking one class per month finishing in a little less than a year including the NCLEX. No failures, no repeats and passed the NCLEX in 70 questions. That being said, it was challenging, scary and stressful but today I am working in a busy ER and really happy that I did the program. CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND WANT STUDY MATERIAL ***
  2. I passed FCCA this week and am submitting my application today! It took a while to locate my vaccination records. How do you upload the passport photo? I got one from Costco but suspect my department id picture would be just as good and easier to upload. Is anyone in Florida looking for a study buddy? I am in Fort Lauderdale but can travel the tri county area pretty easily. Email me at [email protected] I also made crossword puzzles out of the mnemonic sheets.
  3. I passed both FCCA final exams yesterday and am CPNE bound! All I can say is that the Care Plans Made Simple book saved my life. It really helped me understand how to apply the nursing process. Good luck everyone! You can do it!
  4. I averaged one class per month studying at least 10 long hard days for each class. The first two exams were the hardest mostly because I wasnt used to the exam process and my study habits were rusty. I was a machine by the time LS 1-3 came and now I can taste the end coming. There is no easy way, just read the materials and take the exam. I wasted a lot of time up front trying to find a short cut and there isn't one. LOL Good luck! You can do it! Ed
  5. Just a few weeks left of the FCCA and then off to study forthe CPNE. I am hoping to take the CPNEin June and the NCLEX by September. Letme know if you are in Florida and want to study for the CPNE or have recommendationsfor NCLEX prep. I also plan to take aCPNE prep class but have not decided which one to attend. One step at a time.
  6. It’s official, I am in the FCCA scheduled for January 7!
  7. Passed LS 3 today with a B! I thought it was easier than LS 1 and 2 but maybe that is because I have grown accustomed to the question style. Hopefully I can still make the cutoff date for FCCA this January. It was a big sacrifice getting all that done over the holidays while having two kids still in diapers. I plan to take both FCCA classes simultaneously but really don't know what to expect? Is that really possible while working full time and raising a family or should I space it out? I have 17 years of experience and got all A’s and B’s so far but don’t want to jam myself up so late in the game.
  8. I am taking LS 3 on Wednesday so that I can make the cut off for FCCA on January 4. That only gives seven days between LS 2 and LS 3 exam so it’s a bit stressful but I really need to get this done before my kids are old enough to miss me. So far LS 3 does not look too bad but then again, I thought the same for LS 1 and it kicked my butt. LS 2 looked challenging but I made it and LS 3 looks like a lot of stuff I deal with as a medic. I don’t want to be presumptuous but I plan to pass LS 3 and take both FCCA’s at the same time. I don't know anything about the FCCA, there is very little information out there. Even the Excelsior web site has very little posted. I hope I am not biting off more than I can chew? PM me at [email protected] if you have any insight or want a study buddy. I am a voracious reader and will be studying 10 hours a day until Wednesday when I take the exam. Happy New Year!!!
  9. I am a new Dad but that is about all the repro experience that I have and I got an A on the exam. I read the college network material then brushed up with SG 101. I also have a Rue account but did not use it for this exam. There were questions on TPAL, placenta previa, placent abrupto and stages of labor. Know when to use the medications for HTN. I always answered left lateral recumbent whenever that was an option. : I am onto the final three exams, LS 1-3! I hope to knock one out per month.
  10. Thanks! I passed Reproductive Health with an A and plan to take Chronicity in three weeks.
  11. Mostly hear that medics tend to strugle a bit with the information? Any feedback?
  12. I am taking Repro on Aug 17 and then on to Chronicity. My goal is to get these two done prior to October. How was Chronicity? I hear mixed reviews?
  13. I am not ready for the CPNE yet but I do have some study material that friends have given me. I am in Miami Dade and can get it to you if interested? I hope to be preparing for it myself in the next six months.
  14. thanks for that awesome advice! i have been taking the first excelsior practice exam, reading the study group 101 notes, and then taking the second excelsior practice exam. if i got an 80 or better and feel comfortable with the content ... i test. if not, then i run through the college network book. so far this has resulted in two a's and two b's. i took my time to read the actual exam carefully and use good test taking strategy on every question. not surprisingly, the two a's where on the exams that i read the college network books however that could just be because it was more material to explain rationales behind the bulleted point verses just memorization. i did not feel comfortable coming out of any of the exams. based on your feedback, i plan on incorporating the two study prep guides into my mix. reproductive health is my next step. it’s kind of exciting to see how many people liked reproductive health; i would love one more “good grade” before powering through the life span series.
