  1. Hi Kelzo, I took the course to be able to prepare for the future. I am not ready yet to settle down into the MDS position and love the place where I work. Because of that, I am not actively looking for an MDS position because I don't want to leave my company. Should something open up where I work, I would re think that decision. Right now, I work on the floor 3 to 4 days a week, work at the hair salon I own, and work at hospice when I want a change for a shift. I am committed to 3 days a week at the nursing home and anything else I do, I go by what I feel like doing. As long as I work 5 days a week I mix up my work. I am not yet ready to give up that freedom. :-) keep my posted. I hope you get the job!!! you can email me at [email protected]. I would love to hear how your interview went.
  2. Thank you Eldragon and Nurse Mellie for your advice and input.
  3. Hi Kelzo, I joined the AANAC and looked into the certification. I signed up for the first class and printed the material. This is something that I plan on doing very slowly because I have a full time RN position, working over 50 hrs a week at times (I'm at work now, LOL) and have 2 other businesses. I am in no rush. I will let you know how it goes. Keep in touch. I am from NH originially from MA. :-)
  4. Hello, I am now an RN and am interested in an MDS position. I interviewed for one where I currently work and although I do not have any experience the interview went well for the simple fact that I know most of the residents. Due to other circumstances, the job is no longer available because of a low census. It was only 16 hrs a week which was perfect because it would still allow me to be on the floor as a med nurse for the other 24 hrs. The job very well could become available again, so I would like to get a head start on education. I have noticed some online classes. I did look into the AANC. I just would like some guidance of where I should concentrate on learning. I noticed different catagories listed in the training. Is there one are I should start with first. I saw RAI, RUG, etc... I apologize in advance if I may not have these descriptions correctly and thank all in advance for advice. Paula
  5. Congratulations kitkat and nolee!!! I passed both my FCCA's last night, too.
  6. Hi These are all great ideas and I just thought of an IV pole idea as I was reading this post. I am starting the FCCA tomorrow so starting to prepare my mind for the CPNE. I thought of using those hooks you hand out in your yard that you use to hang potted plants on. They are called "shepard hooks". They curve up on each side. I love the the floor lamp and swimming noodle idea. :-) Paula
  7. Congratulations Sue!!! I just passed the last nursing class yesterday and will be planning on taking the FCCA in Nov. I signed up in June for Sherri's workshop for Dec 7-9. I wanted to take it so I would have a basis to study so that I would know how long I should wait between signing up for the CPNE and actually taking it. Paula
  8. I find that i don't get much higher than the 60's ans low 70's on the practice exams and still pass with an A or a B. Congratulations!!! paula
  9. Thank you for your insight. So far, I feel that Repro is the easiest of them all. I also have 2 kids and tool 2 differnt repro classes in LPN school, as well as have always been interested in reading up on women't health. I can relate to the info in life in general. I very briefly looked over LS 3 suggested reading and it appears that it contains lots of info re: wound care, infections that I deal with in long term care, but until I really look it over, I can't be sure. Thanks again, Paula
  10. I definately agree with using either college network or rue. How did LS 3 compare with LS 2 and LS 1. Did you do Repro? Paula
  11. I passed....Ihave LS 3 and Repro left. Would like to finish both by 10/30 so as to take the FCCA in November. I am signed up with RUE and like the study system they have in place, but would like to finish faster. How does Repro and LS 3 compare with the other exams. I feel like I have more experience with LS 3 issues/experience due to working in long term care. Any thoughts? Thanks Paula
  12. Congratulations!!! How does Repro compare to the Lifespans. I have LS 3 and repro left. I passed LS 2 yesterday. Paula
  13. Congratulation!!! I passed LifeSpan 1 yesterday. I am going thru RUE but would like to step up my study to finish Lifespan 3 and Reproduction (which I just started this week ) to be able to finish to take the FCCA in Nov. How does 3 compare to 1 and 2. 1 and 2 seem harder to study, but I found the tests to be very doable...Can I have your thoughts on this? Thanks so much. Paula
