Excelsior Health Safety Exam

Published

I'm getting ready to take the Health Safety exam. I've used Study Group 101 and am thinking about using the Nursing practice test website. Has anyone used that site before, they say they will help you pass but arent affiliated with Excelsior. Also helpful hints on which the best way to study for these exams? I feel very lost right now. Thank you in advance

Most Excelsior students seem to frequent the Distance Ed forum rather than General Student Discussions so I'm moving this thread over there to elicit more responses. Good luck on your exam!

I recommend the EC practice exams -- they are worth every penny. Good luck!

Thank you Lunah:)

Maria12 you need to go over the report you get from Pearson Vue. Focus on the areas where you get less than 70%. Go over the readings for those areas especially Biological and Psychosocial. The same time happened to me when i took it. Thought i got a A but turn out to be a D. Retake the exam and pass with a C, but my lowest areas were the two i mentioned above. Don't get discouraged you can do it.

hey blakey2005. when did u retake it? how was it? was it the same staff on the first trial one? what did u use to study. i use college network book and i dont see anything new. dont know what to read now. very discouraged now.

did u do the practice exams from Excelsior? if not i think u should. i send u a message.

i did not do EC exams. only TCN book.

I took the health safety exam on Monday and passed. I used studygroup primarly to study from but purchased Lisa Arends and some other girls study guide off Ebay. When it was down to the wire I had way to much study guide material to study all three so I felt studygroup was better so I focuse on that one. I am a last min person so I didnt start to study hard until four days before the exam and really hard the day before; spent at least 10 hours that day. Instead of Excelsior's practice exam I found a computer-based practice exam on Ebay--can not think of the name of that person either--but it was on $20 and you can use it without limitation. Excelsior is only two times and you have to be online. Anyhow, when I walked into Pearson Vue I was FREAKING out and afer the first 10 questions I began to calm down because the questions where super easy--at least I thought--but many of them were on this exam program I found. So after I finished I felt really positive that I had close to a 100% but I didnt! That was a let down, first exam wanted to hit it out of the park. But I did pass with a B.

The lesson I learned was to start sooner, stay with it consistantly and possible read the text at least once and use the two thing to study from.

just thought of another great source; saunders. wish i would have study that a little bit more. i recall some material came out of saunders, off that

[color=#002398]excelsior nursing health safety computer-based exam cd--someone sent me a private message which for some reason i cannot respond to, he want to know if i used excelsiors practice exam. no i used that one and you can find it on ebay or nursingexam.net.

also, if you don't have saunders, i purchased my copy for .60 on amazon.com. the shipping was more than the book. it's not the current edition and didnt have the cd inside which i knew when i order it. if i can find a good deal on the current version i prob. by another copy for the cd.

proceed with cauction as you're taking the exam if it seems really easy and go super slow in answering the questions and read each question over and over. on some i almost answered wrong because i misread.
