EC grads,
Post your year of graduation and your specialty/specialties. I'll go first:
I've been a Level II/III Neonatal ICU nurse since graduation in January '06.
Update 5/2018: I've worked for a large NICU since 2009 in bedside and education roles, and I've been a clinical instructor. I finished EC's MS program in nursing education a couple of years ago. I was recently accepted to the Ph.D. program at a state university.
Hi all,
I graduated from EC in Jan 2007. I'm working in OB postpartum for 6 weeks and then on to L/D for orientation. (started on September 1st). Up until Sept. I was working in an OB/GYN clinic as a Licensed Midwife (not an RN). The hospital scene is very new to me with lots to learn, but they sure do seem to want to push me through QUICKLY. I was hired by the first hospital that I sent my resume to and it is 5 minutes from my home. EC rocks!!
graduated from ec dec 2002. honestly the happiest moment of my life! my preceptors couldn't understand why i wans't crying or anything--little did they know i had been crying for hours the night before hoping to pass. i got lots of help and guidance from online study groups and chat boards, telephone friends i met online, etc.
i was previously a therapist wanting very mcuh to switch to nursing...knew i had missed my calling, and without ec changing professions would have been extremely difficult. i have been practising now for 5 years. had very little nursing expereince at first and so found it easier to gain skills by working for an agency. i have worked in nursing homes, continuing care, medical and then surgical...since then got my icu certificate, one course short of my oncology certificate, and now working on coronary care certificate. mainly i work in icu/ccu floors and bridging into cvicu.
my career goal within next 3 years--to help open/expand a nursing school and teach & help mentor others. i really feel a need to give back considering the fortunate path i had with ec.
ec completely turned my life around...i hope it continues to be an accessible way for men & women to access nursing.

Havn't enrolled in EC BSN program yet. Not sure??? Anyone heard of Liberty University. I have a friend in the on-line BSN program and loves it.. Not sure I can do the BSN EC way..
