EC grads,

Post your year of graduation and your specialty/specialties. I'll go first:

I've been a Level II/III Neonatal ICU nurse since graduation in January '06.

Update 5/2018: I've worked for a large NICU since 2009 in bedside and education roles, and I've been a clinical instructor. I finished EC's MS program in nursing education a couple of years ago. I was recently accepted to the Ph.D. program at a state university.

Specializes in LTC, Community.

i notice alot of ppl here have many years of experience under there belt.

I am looking at EC but i will be a new LPN grad when I start... am i crazy?

Specializes in Tele, OR.

;) graduated June 2005, worked about 9months in tele

now working as a OR nurse and I love it !

Specializes in Peds stepdown ICU.

Graduated EC 3/2005 and have been working in a level 1 peds ICU at a large hospital since. I was an LPN for 10 years prior doing mainly peds homecare. I am currently working on my BSN through Jacksonville University!

I graduated in August 2005. I am now a Charge Nurse in the ER.

1998 Grad, now an FNP in a Cardiology practice

Graduated in March 2006.

As soon as I got my license I worked in home health for a miserable 8 months. I will never do that again. Been in and out of the nursing home and private duty since then.

Currently 8 months pregnant, working odd jobs as a private duty nurse, trying to get rolling on EC BSN degree so I can enroll in a NP program somewhere.

Specializes in ICU;CCU;Telemetry;L&D;Hospice;ER/Trauma;.

ohhhh....I do feel old....

I must make a hair appointment..(the grey ones are sprouting!!)

Okay...

1988 grad from Regent's....I have worked for eeeeeeouch! 19 years as an RN in mostly ICU and IV Therapy....and have loved every minute of it....best decision I ever made...

I sucked at men....but I seemed to know a good career when I see one!! HA!

Currently working as an ICU nurse in the Chi-town area...Level two trauma center, with 36 beds.....and work part time for a dr. doing infusion therapy for rheumatoidal patients....(it's a good gig!! been there over two years...)

Aren't we a wonderful group?? Independent....self-starting....motivated...and just plain smart???

crni

i got my paramedic license and worked for about 3-4 months as a medic. passed the cpne, went to work in long term care. heh. had never even done a medpass :).

went through a bit of hell at first, lots of lpn's angry that i was an rn and not adept at basic tasks. that's long been water under the bridge. i'm still doing prn at that same nursing home and working medsurge/oncology at a magnet hospital.

i work a lot, since it's my personality. this year, i'm on track to make about 110k. it's nothing magic, just agressively picking up shifts, etc. helps a lot being a guy. my back doesn't bother me, my feet don't bother me.

i never would have been able to do this without ec. it was a great stepping stone in my life along the way to an mba/rn/cpa = future ceo of a healthcare company :).

This is a great thread.

Specializes in Tele, Home Health, MICU, CTICU, LTC.

Graduated January 2005!

Currently working in LTAC. Other experience includes telemetry, ER, home health, and ICU.

Planning to be done with BSN in May 2008 and then off to start MSN.

Specializes in nursing education.

I graduated From Excelsior back when it was Regents..1994! I was an LVN for 5 years prior to that. I worked OB for a lot of years, but the last 4 years I have been teaching in an LVN program-the same one I went to in 1988! I love it and begin working on my MSN through Walden in Oct.

This is a great thread.

Yes,I agree it is a great thread also. Could it get a sticky, for more visibility. It would also help to foster more participation from the Excelsior grads.Thank all of you for the encouragement, for those of us who are walking in your shadow,at this time.
