i am right there with you and have all those questions as well for the rn-bsn. i am just a little intimidated by the required video taping.

if you find answers or any extra info please share here and i will do the same as i will do more extensive research on this later on.

thanks,

angel, you passed the cpne like it was nothing and you are intimidated by a couple of video tapes! i am shocked at you!! talk to dianna, she enrolled in ec's bsn last month, i believe! i'm thinking about enrolling in the rn-msn just because it saves 3 classes if you go the whole way, then i can cross over to counseling after that, but i'll be able to teach if i ever choose to. we have several practical nursing programs, an adn, 2 bsn and 2 msn programs all within a 30 mile radius of where i live, teaching could get me off my feet in a few years!

back to the video thing, i've heard they aren't that bad, and like i said, we conquered the cpne, what's a little video? good luck all!

I agree. I start the EC BSN in January and vids should be nothing after that 3 day skate through hell :)

Thanks for moving my thread for my more responses!

What videos are you all referring to?

Do a search, both on the distance forum and in the EC website for the videos. You will be required to videotape yourself doing a head to toe physical exam and, I believe, a teaching session. At least one person described dropping out of the EC program due, in large part, to these requirements. Other people have found the requirements to be no big thing.

Hi Angel,

I enrolled into RN-BSN program and about to be done with Health Assessment and Professional Socialization classes. Well :D Do not repeat my mistakes, do not sign up for 2 classes at the same time, lol. Plus, I got a new job, so it was a little challenge. Both classes have discussions - new topic every week, you have to respond to 4 of your classmates, and post responses 4 days a week for the maximum points. Plus, for Prof. Socialization you will have to find a mentor - a nurse with BSN and some years of experience, design your project (something you want to learn about), do the project and write 2 papers. Not too bad. I did have a problem finding a mentor, thought.

For HA - you will have to videotape a health assessment. I used my husband as a patient (I figured that male patient is better, since I had to do some chest palpation. This way I could do he assessment without worrying too much about providing the privacy). The only catch is - you have to tape it in a "healthcare looking environment". So, you can not do it at home, per say. If you make a mistake during the videotaping, not a big deal, just re-shoot it and then do some editing, insert the right piece instead of the piece with a mistake. Find a cameramen - it is a must :D I can not say how many pieces I had to reshoot just because my face would go out of the frame (the lab was not too big to begin with, so I had some difficulties positioning the camera).

Good luck :)
