Just a head's up! New student application acceptances are suspended at this time to allow students to prepare for the TEAS. Controlling the number of new students will also help manage the CPNE wait time. Information is here:

Not sure if RTs are accepted any longer — doesn't look that way.

I think this is going to be a good thing for EC and for their alum eventually.

Agreed! And now it just says don't apply without that TEAS score, they removed the box about suspending the acceptance of applications.

Interesting to note that those TEAS minimums must be achieved in a single test, and a student can only take it twice a year.

I think this as well as the other recent changes to the program are definitely steps in the right direction and I couldn't be happier. Most other Nursing programs require the TEAS or HESI A2 exam to screen applicants. The current minimums for Excelsior admission are more than fair for right now but in the future I would like to see the scores increased to be more on par with at least CC nursing programs.

Supervisor veri cation is necessary to con rm the applicant:

1. is currently credentialed as an LPN/LVN, a paramedic, or a speci c military medical classi cation;

2. is employed in a setting that requires direct patient care, including performance or opportunity for observation of common nursing

psychomotor skills; and

3. has completed at least 200 hours of employment in this practice setting within the calendar year prior to signing this form.

This is in addition to TEAS so those not working as a nurse or medic, including fresh LPN grads not yet employed are not eligible for the program. The verification is only valid 3 months. There have been quite a few students over recent years posting here and other forums struggling with theory exams and panicking over FCCA and CPNE having zero nursing experience. The program was intended as a bridge for working LPNs, medics, military medics etc.

I saw on excelsiors website what the minimum scores for the TEAS for them. But what are the average scores for admittance to other programs? Is excelsiors score minimums considered low?

Wow. Good thing I started when I did. I just made it. I think its a good look for EC.

Me too, got my acceptance to the nursing program this past September. Glad I don't have to jump through that hoop.

I have seen 65% to 75% overall in looking around, so this lands in there. I like it that the reading score is the highest one - it's kind of difficult to do distance learning if your reading comprehension isn't up there!

This can be nothing except a good thing all the way around.

As I entered excelsiors nursing program as a paramedic I am unfamiliar with lpn accreditation processes. Do people entering LPN school have to take the TEAS? Or is this strictly an RN school admission test?

I had to take the TEAS for my LVN program.
