Excelsior BSN students? =)

It has been FOREVER since I posted, but, was wondering who all on here are BSN students for Excelsior? I finished my AAS last year in May and obtained my RN license in June for FL. I have been since working on my BSN program which I'm really enjoying, as I feel it completely builds upon what I learned during the AAS program. I am currently taking Research in Nursing, Leadership & Management, and Health Assessment & Promotion this term. In May I will only have Nursing Informatics & Community Health Nursing courses and one more gen ed then in Sept. the Nursing Capstone course. So far I'm pulling all A's and B's, and have high hopes of being graduated by December so that next year I can begin applying to a Nurse Practitioner program. By the way if you are considering EC's BSN program they now offer ALL the nursing BSN as courses, and two of them you can take a test out exam much like the AAS program, however, they all are offered as online course formats (which I had to take due to my financial aid)

For those of your just now working on your AAS through Excelsior, hang in there you can do it! Before long this will all be a distant memory! =)

I thought there were hardly any other RN to BSN on this board but I am one of them. I hope to graduate at the end of the summer. I have the Community Nursing exam, an elective (I can get this credit by taking my specialty certification exam) then Capstone which I will hopefully start in May.

I just passed my CPNE, the weekend of Jan 25 - 27th. I am hoping to be an Excelsior RN-BSN student soon. Waiting for my graduation packet so I can pay, take the NCLEX and get moving on to BSN.

Great to see this thread! I was thinking about applying to Excelsior for RN-BSN. How did you guys liked it? How many hours a week on average did you spent studying? How many credits you were taking at the time?

I started this a year ago and as soon as I began, life pulled me out. I managed to get credit for the BSN Professional Transitions course via transfer. I have the Ethics exam and WRITING FOR THE PROFFESIONS left as far as general eds. I will be back in the groove next month and hope to get everything but the capstone done by the end of the year. Essays have always been like second nature for me because I've always loved English. Research, on the other hand, is a different story. I've done it with the Transitions course, didn't like it BUT it was done and I landed an A in the class. So, with that being said, aside from the general eds and my Med/Surg certification, I have what, 4-5 courses standing between me and the BSN. I'm VERY excited to be this close. Maybe I will see you guys on the EPN as well as here to keep the motivation going!BTW, a little about me: LPN for 27 years this year (since I didn't let that license lapse), and an Excelsior-graduated RN for 3 years this year.

Just delurking a bit to say WAY TO GO TASHA!!! :D I am waiting for my son to graduate from college in May, and I may once again hit the books. As for now, just enjoying work. So encouraging to those of us still on the BSN to see what you are up to!

Awesome work Tasha! I am currently a BSN student with Excelsior. I am taking the capstone and 2 of my last general core classes. I am expected to graduate in April/May of this year. I was an LPN for 16 years, completed my ASN with excelsior in 2010 and now the BSN. I am planning on going into an APRN program. Starting to research all the different programs. I really wish Excelsior had an Masters with and APRN program...

I start my BSN with EC in March. I am starting with writing for professionals. I am also considering a sociology class. I was wondering what you thought about he statistics class. I will sign up next term for statistics for health care. I am terrible in alegbra but hoping you have some good advice.Thank you

I wrote a post on my experiences with Excelsior's Statistics. It was one of the most difficult courses I have ever taken in my life. I considered myself to have reasonable Algebra skills having scored a "B" in Freshman Algebra in College.

Hi Tasha! I'm so glad to see you are taking the EC BSN course. I have been silently reading your posts for a few years now and you continue to motivate me. :yes: !

I just FINALLY passed my CPNE and am considering EC to earn my BSN. I was wondering if FOR SURE EC graduates are welcomed in NP programs? I realize we will have to earn our MSN somewhere other than EC to continue on the NP route. Any advice?
