From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

Ohhhh...your little smiley is looking sad and pitiful. I feel for you...I really do!! You are sooo close to finishing....you can do it!!!

Hehe- thanks for the good wishes. Gonna need all the help I can get.

I'm still waiting on week 4 db posting grades. Haven't even started week 5 work, although I've identifie what's not evidence based and how to make it so...at least I think.

Do you have Finnegan?(spelled her name wrong) If you do she is GREAT!!!!!!!!! Keep on watching the videos and doing the example questions!! I put a lot of time into it, but did well!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Only jump into the ocean if you want to swim or look at the fishe:yes:

My section doesn't have last week's grades posted yet either. Maybe we have the same TA! She is slow posting grades but I have found her to be very fair. Guess I can live with slow grading! Not sure my DB is correct but do not care at this point. All my replies are in - just have the quiz in the am. Right now I am making apple juice so I can make candy apple jelly in the morning - I LOVE fall!! Good luck - we are almost done with this one!

I must have the same TA too, grades are never posted quickly but she does grade fairly.

Yay for fall, my favorite time of the year.

Okay...got both DB grades back...missing half point on each one.

My question is: I am still trying to figure out how to cite the article web sight. I noticed some people who have already posted their DB for week 5 have cited all three articles and not cited anything else.

Frustrating!

I posed this question to my TA: "Do we need to cite and reference the AHRQ reports in our DB response? If yes, are we still subject to the 3 reference limitation? If that is the case, we will not be able to use references for the other part of the assignment (the EBP section) since we will already be at he 3 reference limit with our AHRQ response."

Here is the response: "That is odd that they would limit the references to three. I certainly will not take off if there are more. However, you do not need to cite and reference AHRQ as you are only going to their website to find the articles. You would only reference the articles that you found."

So no direct answer but it looks like you can infer that up to six references would be OK and that we do not use the suggested citation on the AHRQ website (which references the authors of the study, the institution it was prepared at - Tufts for my three studies - and finally identifies it as a US government publication, with a pub number, from the AHRQ).

What I really find odd is the TA talking about the assignment in the third person, as if he/she was totally detached from the process. Not optimistic about this one.

The most interesting thing I have read in these chapters is that duct tape is not evidence based treatment for adult with warts!

I wonder if that will be on the quiz?

Chuckster, if your TA is right about the AHRQ site reference, then I am screwed. I didn't cite each article. Gosh I wish the directions for these DB assignments would be a clearer. But I just want to get done with this.

I am so ready to move on.

That's her first name right? Professor K ( we aren't supposed to say the real names on here for some reason) but if so then yes I agree, she was great.

Different TA than who I have - we are to cite AHRQ and not each article individually. Only writing a sentence about each one ... what is there to cite?

That is very reassuring to read! Looking through module 1 now and ready to cry. Hate repeating stats ... wish grads schools would accept mine from 21 years ago .... LOL.

Okay...really you are misinterpreting this. I did not cite AHRQ or the articles within AHRQ. I only sited articles I FOUND to support non-evidenced based practice. This is based on my TA telling us through all these weeks that we do NOT cite the articles we are asked to read. So, in our DB boards we do not cite the articles you are asked to read. Therefore you do not cite the three articles OR the AHRQ web site. ONLY stuff that YOU go look up to make your points that you want to make in your responses! Hope that clarifies things.

You do reference AHRQ per my TA. The articles we read we selected.
