From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?
How are they to know that you don't subscribe to whatever journal you got the article from? I get the journal of clinical oncology...or something like that. Whether I get the article from an online database or from the print journal in front of me, the reference is the same. Maybe I've been lucky with decent TA's that don't expect that...Yep, did it the same exact way and lost one full point. This is the most inconsistent system I've ever seen. So now I'm paranoid about losing any little point that may cause me to fail the course. The librarian had no idea either! So, I fired off an email...we'll see what the brilliant response is. Thanks for your feedback.
The only difference it makes in my citations is if there is no doi. If not, I will put in the entire web address I retrieved it from ... just go back, copy/paste and there ya go! Most journals now have a doi for each article - I am looking at the Journal of Emergency Nursing and each article has a doi. The APA manual talks about electronic retrieval starting on page 188, URL vs DOI. Also gives info/examples starting on pg 198.
Geeze... I think I just might have a post worth DB assignment done. I'm going to look at it again in the morning, but I've spent like 10 hours on this one assignment, and I just want it to be done!
I am really counting my lucky stars we didn't have to do the meta analysis part, or I think I would have had to drink something to get this done. I still might....... anyone want to join me with a brewsky when this week is over? ( oh darn they took off the beer mug emoticon)
i dont know what ta you guys have but i just got the same message but then found it posted with clarification on the announcements page.. hope this helps.thers also a comment about how the last 3 weeks are easier .. i certainly hope so cause this class is uber hard!
Welcome to the OU discussion!! This is a great bunch of peeps and they have definately been my lifeline while at OU.
Finally finished the reading assignments for the week. Oh boy, that was some of the toughest reading ever and it all kind of ran together. I also completed the independent/dependent variable assignment. I honestly thought that was a piece of cake, which has me a little worried. Now I get to work on the fun and awe inspiring DB post and the quiz. Can you sense my enthusiasm? If anyone has a sure fire method of making this class more interesting will you please share.

Sorry no magic bullet to make the snoozer even a bit more intersting. But I agree the variable assignment was way too easy. I completed my DB and one response. This has been the most awful week of class since March. I am dragging myself through the reading assignments in the book. Due to the miniscule factoids in the first 2 quizzes, I am afraid not to read every word, but I am sure I can't remember everything. I still have the last chapter to read and then go over the study guide for topics to concentrate on. Oh I can't wait till this course is over.
ok so i have been writing and re writing this db board for week 3 all day long and i still dont know if it is right? i see a clarification and it doesnt mention the ou article but i had already included it on the post.. r most of you leaving that on the db or not? just curious? and how long r most of your post.. mine seems super long so im afraid i will lose points for that...lol
