4550- Evidence Based Nursing

Nursing Students Ohio University

From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

My computer keys stick..forgive me for spelling errors.

This may seem like a stupid question but when you did the literature seach assignment did you use their exaple of the elderly living with diabetes 2 or did you use another research topic? It does not specify what topic we need to use. I'm not liking this assignment and am in panic mode even though we have til Tues. to turn it in. This is not my cup of tea at all. Thank you in advance for your suggestions and help.

Just go to the database section in the library. Use Medline and CINAHL and search under diabetes, older adults, etc. That is the focus of the search. Then you just type in responses in the template. It's really not so bad. Focus on the diabetes topic to complete. Hope that helps!

The assignment says to Search for research to answer this question, so I think it is elderly people living with Diabetes that they want you to research. You only need to follow the steps to find primary peer review research articles. It isn't that you have to write a paper about it. It is actually pretty easy I think.

Thank you for clarifying, and yes it helps greatly. :)

Yes, it was not so bad which makes me second guess myself. Thank you again.

I would still like to know where our sections study guide is. I feel that there is not much communication that goes on in the class between the students and TA.

As always with OU, everything is TA dependent with a class. My TA is great - and I have been very fortunate in all these classes that I have always had a great TA. Others on here have not been so fortunate.

I wonder if we're in the same section? We've heard from our TA once, for an introduction. She's not answered any questions on the Q&A board nor did she send us out a study guide. I've had good TA's in the past...this is the first class where I've been disappointed in my TA.

rninme and I share the same TA and she's great. I've had one really bad one and it totally changes the course for you. It's pathetic that you did not have study guide. Isn't this forum a lifesaver?!

Gee... Just wait till you see the video on Ethnographic Research under Class 2... I was a bit shocked that they chose this one as required viewing.

I couldn't even get through it. Not only was it boring but it was incredibly inappropriate IMO. Really a bad choice for a university course.

Has anyone reviewed the DB post for week 2? I'm really confused by the assignment. At the top is says determine 3 strengths and 3 limitations...then further down are instructions for the DB post. What exactly are we doing here?

I can send you what we were given. It is very vague but a little of something is better than nothing. So far I have only had one nursing class where the TA lacked communication and when she did communicate all she did was direct you back to the announcements. It was terrible.
