4550- Evidence Based Nursing

Published

From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

I took the Mod 1 quiz and thankfully passed. I didn't think it was horrible but I didn't love it either. I think the study guide provided a decent guideline on the quiz topics. There was a problem with one of the questions where you were supposed to read a particular sentence and select the correct answer from that sentence, though there wasn't actually a sentence, just the answers. How can I pick the best answer from a sentence that isn't there? I emailed the TA about that one.

My section did not receive an announcement about quiz problems or the LockDown browser. I did not download the browser, just assumed that since I've been using BB for other classes that I must already have it. Except for the error on the one question that I already stated above, I didn't have any problems taking the quiz. Though it did have a "save answer" box on each question and I wasn't sure if I needed to save each answer as I went or not. I did, just in case.

I've finished all the reading, videos, DB posting and replies, ungraded assignment, and the quiz. Just have to work on the assignment. Did anyone have any difficulties working on the assignment?

Did you mean the Lit Searches one? Not hard, had to use ALICE and find articles that fit the criteria they wanted and the rest was easy.

Make sure you do the lit search under database search in the library. It's a straight forward assignment. That's about the only thing that makes sense this week. This Bb thing is a mess...I hate it. I received no announcement about quiz extension...what a drag. I don't want to get behind on week 2. There is a lot of reading in this course and those who have taken the quiz can attest to the importance of reading EVERY WORD. Okay, so this class is important for grad school but my gosh, it's no fun at all.:sniff:

Thanks ladies, I'll use the Alice database for the lit assignment. No quiz extension for my section either mtsteelhorse. There is definitely a LOT of less than exciting reading.....

Alice isn't a database...go to the library site and if you don't see the direct link to databases click on resources then databases. Alice is a catalog.

I'm soooooo not looking forward to taking the quiz :( I've read all the chapters, I think that's a first! I'm used to classes that have ten chapters per week...still not looking forward to it though, especially after the ethics one.

It was not fun. I got 4 wrong. You have to be really careful with each question, some are obvious. Time warning didn't work for me ( supposed to warn you when you count down to 5 min left). They also don't have the ability to see your submitted answers, so you can't see what answer you gave, only that you got it wrong.

On a brighter note, next week doesn't look too bad.

Found the databases link on Alice, no problem. The literature assignment was, dare I say, easy. Week 1 complete!

Checking through Module 2 and there is no assignment listed, just the DB posting and a quiz.

Evidence Based Practice is my last nursing course and I have to say that so far I am not impressed. I thought the so-called "activity" was an activity not a quiz so thank goodness it was non-graded. It has not been fun navigating to find everything we need and my stuff on BB didn't show up until the afternoon of the 28th. I'm scared to death to take the quiz as the study guide is vague to say the least. I will be so glad when this is over.

Hi:

Question and Answer is just the generic discussion board for all students to ask questions and answer each other. If we are lucky the instructor responds. Hope this helps. I think the quiz is posted now. Yikes!!

I thought you had to take all these courses before Excellence. Have you already taken that? Bb is a drag. Know the study guide, best advice I can give. Good luck. We'll all survive!

I don't think that is necessarily the rule. I have seen people who took it before and the advisor just overwrote it?! I am taking excellence parallel to research and I guess it should be of interest but it's a snooze fest all around...The only thing that sucks is that I have nobody else taking excellence so I am on my own :uhoh3:

I also found out from my TA that she has the understanding it is NOT possible to edit a post so her advice was to make sure it is correct before submitting it and formatting errors will not affect the grade.

My TA reported the same thing...cannot edit posts. Oh, how I miss Epic! Is there a lot of reading in Excellence? I have been tempted to double up next session with Leadership (4580) but I don't know if that will be too much to swallow in 5 weeks. However, I would love to be done in Nov!
