Nursing Students School Programs

Hello! Currently have been accepted into the EVC nursing program, and I was just wondering if any of you wonderful people are currently enrolled or have graduated from the same program? Would love any and all info and tips regarding Professors, Clinicals, and Product Recommendations for what we need to buy ourselves (shoes, stethoscopes, BP cuffs, etc.) Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Congratulations on your acceptance! You must of worked so hard to get here. Relish this moment for as long as you can =)

I am set to start EVC spring 17. I just finished up with the nursing bootcamp yesterday. The uniform information you should be able to find in the EVC nursing student handbook.

The school leans toward the side of prudence with regards to uniforms. Having said that, some of the rules may seem stringent but in most cases they have safety and the school reputation in mind. Your uniform patches will be available at the orientation. A helpful hint about patches is to purchase velcro in order to adhere them. Here is the cheapest best option i have found for attatch-a-patch style velcro.

You will receive a purchase link for a skills kit which the program coordinator will post to the EVC nursing enrollment page with your cohort heading (i.e. spring 17 students). There is a lot of important information that is posted to that page;so keep an eye out. You receive said skills kit at the bootcamp session that I mentioned. The kit has bandages, catheters ,tubing and other random medical supplies that you will need in your clinical practice labs.

The only medical equipment that I have purchased was a stethoscope. The student success coordinator said that you should shoot for spending about 50 bucks on one. The more expensive ones tend to get "lost". The inexpensive ones you cant hear anything. I have heard good things about Littmann branded stethoscopes and i think you can buy a really good Littmann on amazon for $50.

@DennisLaw Thank you so much. Do you recall what exact immunizations were required for the program as well? If you have a specific list it would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Just FYI I've started a facebook page for all of us to stay up to date on lectures, assignments, and support! You can find it under "EVC Fall 2017 Nursing Students"! Looking forward to meeting all of you soon :)
