Everest College Ontario RN program

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

that is what I was planning on doing. I want to try and save up as much money as I can to see how big of a down payment I can leave for the first year. I am also attempting to finish paying my car which isn't a lot just a little over a thousand. I need to call them to double check when the next class starts. Stacey, you need to keep us informed on how the classes are coming along and how you like them. I want to see like everyone else has stated, if its worth the money.

I believe the orientation dates in July will be for the December start. So if you go that route, you'll have nearly a year to save up for when it matters.

The money is a lot. I am having to pay 400 out of pocket a month. Thankfully my parents are lending me the money (humbling). So who is going to orientation on Friday? Hope to finally meet some of you after this long waiting period:)

I would kill to have a monthly payment that low--my parents are helping me as well (yup...humbling), but I think they might actually want this more than me.

Anyway, I'll be there Friday! :D

just out of curiosity do any of you guys have a facebook? lol :o

search me too! jcabrera_03@hotmail

but when adding me message me your screen name on this thread so i know who you are:)

Ok so I called Everest and they totally would not tell me anything about their catalog :( I really need to know what the english comp1 and the english comp2 classes are at the Junior college I figure that at least one of them is English 101 but is the other a writing class? I have my registration for Spring tomorrow so I would really like to add a few more classes that I can take off... I would also like to know if the Theraputic Communications class is Speech. Please if someone knows please post it, it would literally be the difference between like having an out of pocket cost and not having one...

I didn't take English Comp at a JC, but where I took it, it was actually called English Composition I and II--and yes, they are writing classes. Also, I'm not 100%, but my guess is that Therapeutic Communications is not the same as Speech. I'd think any equivalent to Speech would have somewhat of a generic name, and Therapeutic Communications seems to put emphasis on one particular part of the subject. Just my guess, though :) Have you checked with the advisor at the JC? If Everest won't help, maybe the other school can offer their opinion...

Thanks a million for responding to my posting :) I was really suprised at how hush hush they are at Everest, even after I explained the situation they basically said the only way I was going to get my answer was to go to the meeting on the 1st and if that was too late then oh well :( But I understand considering they have over a 1000 hopefuls each term. I tried to see if they had the catalog for Everest at my college (Citrus College) and they said that they didn't :( The educated guess was that it was English 101 and maybe a writing course, and yeah I was hoping the Theraputic Communications was Speech but when you say that it does make sense. :) Well it looks like I am only going to have 2 or 3 classes that might be taken off of the 1st year if I get in the program, hopefully that will put a dent in that out of pocket everyone has been talking about1 :) Thank you again for taking the time to help me!

You're most welcome, but don't quote me on it! Who at Everest did you speak to? I'd say only the nursing admin can answer your question. Even the girl at admissions, though very sweet, couldn't answer some of my most basic questions. Can't blame her since she's not directly involved with the nursing program. I hear it's a world on its own, so I can see how finding someone who can answer a nursing question can be hard to come by. Not to mention, they're just two days away from orientation and less than a week from school start--I bet not much else is on their minds.

Good luck with everything! :D

Ok, got a form email from R-- this morning saying that I was not selected for the Jan. class. If I wanted to be put on the rollover list for July, to let them know. Of course, I hit reply and said 'yes, please put me on the rollover list for July and I would also like to re-test'. R-- responded so I'm in a new waiting cycle. :D

Congrats to all of you who will be in orientation this Friday :clpty:
