Everest College Ontario RN program

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Good luck everyone! It's a little saddening to think that I would have been in orientation today with the rest of you :(

I am sorry that you weren't able to do the program this time :( But are you planning to do the next one? Don't give up, just remember "The race isn't given to the swift, but to those who endure it til the end..." :) You can do it!

The orientation went well, but probably could've gone by faster. It was especially great to finally put some faces to these names! Turns out I invited msxstacey to sit at our table before I realized who she was  We're definitely part of a good group, would you agree? Talk about diversity...

Not sure if it matters to you guys, but I was soooo excited to hear Everest is in the process of becoming NLN accredited. This was the ONE thing that made me think twice about the program, and now...all doubts are GONE! My decision to stick with Everest is officially solid. I couldn't be happier.

emt_anderson, I should thank you for starting this thread. The night before my test, I was at wits end, about 85% discouraged because I felt I hadn't studied the sciences enough. I just about changed my mind. Then I came across this, where someone mentioned only the math and english parts were counted. That was enough to convince me to show up the next day (I even drove to my parents house at 4am to pick up my HS diploma)...and here I am. Thank you and everyone who cared to share info about the exam.

LET'S DO THIS!! See you next session, emt! :D

an update: so far first week of class has been great. Part of me thought since its a trade school and all there wouldnt be as much work. Boy was i wrong. lots and lots of never ending homework and its only the first week, so i can tell the program is gonna be tough. But im ready for it. :)

Finishing up the 3rd week at Everest. Very basic and simple thus far. Fluff classes (wish I wasn't paying for) but o well. Met a girl who is in her third quarter and starts clinicals next week. The poor girl was shaking and was so nerves. I will enjoy these next 9 weeks because I know it will get so much harder very soon. 6am classes are not that bad. Getting use to waking up at 4:15 am in order to leave by 4:50 in order to make it by 5:50am. Good luck to everyone:yeah:

I'm considering the Everest LVN to RN bridge program. I believe they have some information sessions in Feb. 2011. Can any one confrim the date? Thx.

Informational meetings are Tuesdays @ 4pm and Thursdays at 1pm. Go as soon as ou can and sign up for the earliest testing you can. After the results and the interview it all comes down to first come first serve. Get in everything quickly and you have a better chance to get in. Goodluck:)

Thx for the update. Are you attending Everest right now?

Yes i would definitely advise the first possible orientation and sign up for the first possible test you can.

Yes, I am in my first quarter at Everest. Have to go to bed now becuase I have a 6am class tomorrow. which means I am up by 4:15am and out of my house by 4:50am. All worth it to be in a nursing program:coollook:

Ok so I went to the orientation that they have going on until the end of Feb. for the July class, and a few things have changed since the last class. The tution has gone up to 52 plus thousand dollars, you now have to pass all portions of the hesi a2 test even if you aren't transfering classes! You have to go to all the clinically sites, it doesn't matter where you live every student has to go to every clinical site :( which is a problem for me considering I live in Baldwin Park and they have one that is Hesperia! That is like a 1 1/2 drive for me one way :( They do have a lvn to rn bridge but there are a lot of hoops to jump threw in order to do it, and to this day they haven't had one lvn jump in at the bridge point. The pass rate isn't what I thought it would be... I mean I really wanted to just rush to finish the RN program but I have a great GPA and I am pretty sure I can get in at my school now, it is just going to take an extra year... I was all for everest before but after going to that orientation meeting not so much these days... :(

Krystel, wow im pretty surprised they are making the science portions of the hessi a requirement. It must be to narrow the field down a lot more. At the orientation i went to (august 10) they said tuition was 50k. that was a lie. It comes out to over 52 so for the new people gonna be starting in july itll be even higher. I was wondering where you got the NCLEX pass rate info? I called the brn to get the stats but unfortunately they dont release those sorts of things until it hits their website in the summer. All ive been told by everest is that out of the 30 something people who took it all but 1 have passed. But of course i prefer to go by facts, not what the school says. with that said, i started the program 3 weeks ago and so far so good. Ive learned quite a bit already and have more work than i expected, which is a good thing. The only sort of issues i have encountered are with the school itself, not with anything to do with the nursing department. I applaud you on your high gpa and wish you the best of luck in your rn career

Kyrstal, thank you for this update. These are reasons for me to pause and rethink.

FYI about LVN - RN Bridge programs. In my research, they are even harder to get into than an RN program. I've spoken to 5 different schools (National, MSJC, CSUSM, Everest, SDSU) and they have accepted 2 students in all the years of their programs.
