Hello all,
I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.
Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?
I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.
And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??
Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Hello, I've only gone to the information meeting so far, but they did talk about the schedule. They said this is not a part-time program - it is full time, and the classes will vary on times and dates but basically classess can be anytime from about 7:30 am - 6pm M-F - as you start off they will only be maybe 2-3 days a week, then as you start the 2nd quarter it will go to about 3-4 days a week and then your last year you will go about 4-5 days a week. They have clinical sites within a 50 mile radius of the school and everyone is expected to go to every clinical site they have. Its not like they try to place you in one that is closest to you, you rotate to the various clinical sites. I hope I answered your question.
Ok im in my first term and its a&p, strategies for success, nutrition, and english. I transferred english so i can only tell u the schedule for what im taking. A&P is a 4 hour lecture and a 4 hour lab. for me its back to back all day wednesday. Nutrition is an online course so obviously not in class. And strategies for success gives u an option of in class or online. I chose online. In class i believe is a 4 hour class once a week but i may be wrong. Hope this helps
but i will say that the online courses do have a lot of coursework involved, particularly nutrition so since u are at home it isnt an easy ride. You will be able to work first term tho if needed as long u have proper time mgmt skills. So far I like the program a lot and the credits WILL transfer to university of phoenix which has a good RN-BSN program (so ive been told) and also an RN-MSN for those interested. I definitely plan on going for BSN after. They offer BSN in class, online, and a hybrid of both so that is ideal for those wishing to work with RN ADN and continue schooling as well.

Jmira and Rena thank you for your reply. This is something I really want to do but it's such a big step so I'm a bit hesitant. I'm currently an LVN and works full time, married and two kids! I'm taking the first step and I'm scheduled to take the test on March 21, Rena when are you taking your test?
Im taking my test on March 22nd - Im very nervous and trying to find books to study for the HESI. I also work fulltime, Im a single mom and have a 13 year old son. Im still trying to figure out how Im gonna work everything out but Im researching everything I possibly can to try to make it work and Im just gonna do my best to try to get accepted. Good luck
Does anyone have a pdf file copy of the Hesi Admission Assessment Exam Review? If so, can you please email it to me [email protected] - thank you very much!
rena575 & Lheslie, Did the both of you attend the info session last week? Anyway, I'm taking mine on the 23rd & I still haven't had the time to study yet! And to my surprise I could not find the Hesi A2 study book at any bookstores (well, except online). Do you guys think it's worth spending some extra cash expediting the shipping cost if I buy it online?
oh and fyi everest is not totally accred. you can't take the credit from everest and get your bsn at most regular colleges, they warned at the info meeting if you were planning to go for your bsn to check the college first to see if they were will to accept the credits. Also yes it is like crazy hard to get into a lvn bridge, every school talks a good game about it but no one actually knows anyone who has actually been able to do it... I am doing good over at Citrus so far, and surprisingly it isn't that hard to get in their program, just a high gpa, clear background and the other basic stuff. Your will be surprised how many people only have like a 2.5 gpa... Get a 3.6 or higher and your in :)
Thanks so much for your info, do you know if you can transfer credit from Everest to another school if you want to get your BSN?
I met with the nursing director recently (I'm in my first quarter of their ADN program with jmira), and she told me that someone recently transferred their Everest credits to CSUSB to pursue their BSN (but also stated it's not a guarantee for everyone), so it's not impossible. Also, they have an agreement with Kaplan and University of Phoenix (both regionally accredited) so that any Everest Nursing graduate can pursue their BSN without the issues a student may face with other BSN programs.
Everest - Ontario Metro has applied for candidacy for NLNAC accreditation. They are currently awaiting for initial reply, but there's no telling when or if the accreditation process will be complete. At the very least, this tells me the school is confident enough in their curriculum to seek such prestigious recognition.
We're just about done with our 7th week and I'm having a great time. My Anatomy professor is amazing--I actually look forward to coming to class--and my classmates have been awesome. So far I've had no issues with the school. Although I didn't expect tuition to increase this quickly, I know from experience that it's bound to happen. It's college, after all.
This is one move I know won't ever regret....I couldn't be happier right now.
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and in the process of reading through all the 38 pages of posts so I apologize if I repeat any asked questions. I currently am a student at CSULB majoring in Kinesiology and I am over it. I have already taken my A&P at CSULB along with Nutrition and English. I'm not sure if they are the required classes for Everest but I was wondering if my A&P classes will transfer or will I be taking it over again at Everest? I wouldn't mind taking it over to refresh my memory.
Another question: Does Everest charge per semester or by classes or units?
I've never really considered Everest until now because I do not want to wait on a waitlist for over 2 years when I can just go here and (hopefully) finish in two years.
Thanks in advance!
Lheslie
