American Career College - Ontario
Hello Everyone, Has anyone or is anyone attended ACC in Ontario? I'm interested in this school but would love to get a little background information on them. Originally I had wanted to attend Concorde in San Bernardino, but at the time I went for the tour of the campus they had offered a part time evening program, they are now no longer offering that schedule. I work full time M-F 5-2 in Buena Park and am a single mom of a 13 almost 14 year old son, so I need a school closer to home that I can attend at night and weekends. So far the only one I know of is ACC but since its a private school it is about $30k for tuition. I just dont want to pay a lot of money for a program that is not even average compared to others. Any information or input would be greatly appreciated

Nursing school now first come first serve?
The way nursing students are accepted into the programs in my area are through a lottery process. Once all pre reqs have been successfully completed, and you've gone to the schools mandatory information meeting then you apply and basically your name is then pulled from a hat - for lack of better words. Which to me really sucks-there is nothing you can do to help give yourself an edge at all. You can be a 4.0 student with a ton of volunteer work at the local hospitals or whatever and it doesnt matter. You can be in the pool for years and never get your name picked where some get in on their first try. Just to many people trying to get into the health industry thinking that once they are in they wont ever be affected by the economy and there is some kind of shortage in nurses.

Does anyone know of any program that have night classes for LVN in Ontario, CA area?
Hi I was wondering if you ever found a parttime evening lvn program and if you are currently attending how is it going? I also live in Ontario and am looking for a parttime lvn program, I am aware ACC offers one and I think there may be a few others that arent to far but my main concern is getting one that has a lot to offer as far as curriculum and clinical sites. The schools I am familiar with that have the parttime program seem to have alot of bad comments about them. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

Everest College Ontario RN program
Hello, I've only gone to the information meeting so far, but they did talk about the schedule. They said this is not a part-time program - it is full time, and the classes will vary on times and dates but basically classess can be anytime from about 7:30 am - 6pm M-F - as you start off they will only be maybe 2-3 days a week, then as you start the 2nd quarter it will go to about 3-4 days a week and then your last year you will go about 4-5 days a week. They have clinical sites within a 50 mile radius of the school and everyone is expected to go to every clinical site they have. Its not like they try to place you in one that is closest to you, you rotate to the various clinical sites. I hope I answered your question.

Everest College Ontario RN program
Are you familiar at all with Everest? I havent heard from anyone that has actually gone there to be able to see how there classes and structure are- I just want to make sure I dont pay 52k + and then not be able to get a job anywhere afterwards - and have you gone to their information meeting yet?

Everest College Ontario RN program
How are you liking Everest so far? Do you still feel it was a good decision or do you feel like you shouldve maybe gone another route? Have you heard anything about clinical sites? Do they seem limited? I want to get my RN license but am not sure if I am going to go the LVn route first and then do a bridge program later on. THough my local community college is ALOT less expensive its getting harder to get classes and the nursing program is a lottery system. Ive looked into West Coast but it costs $150k + to attend so I just dont see paying that much and being in so much debt right when I get out of school. Ive heard Everest is half that amount. Just not sure of the program itself since it seems to be a fairly new program and there are no passing rates for the NCLEX posted for them yet

Did you attend Everest or know someone who did and had a bad experience? or how do you know they are bad? Where did you go to school for your RN?

Stanbridge College LVN Program Students
Thanks for replying, that helps me alot. With most vocational schools its hard to determine which ones have a really good program and which dont, from current and former students posts - they vary so much. You just never can tell which post are from students that want to skate by and which are from students that have no problem taking an initative in their own education and doing alot of late night studying and hard work. Once again thanks for your input and good luck reaching your goals

Stanbridge College LVN Program Students
Hello, I am considering Stanbridge for their part time LVN program, I was wondering how you are liking it and if you feel like you are learning alot. I live in Ontario so it will be quite a commute for me but I feel if its a good school and their program is as good as they prefess then its worth it. I've looked at their passing rates for the NCLEX exam and they look like their students usually pass. Also about how much was your tuition? Ive seen people post that they had to pay $400.00 upfront if their cost of tuition was not completely covered by grants or loans- I know mine wont be. Is there any other upfront out of pocket costs that you're aware of? Im a single mom so unfortunately cost is a bit of a factor. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Working as an LVN during LVN-RN bridge program
WOW is all I can say, you have truly inspired me, I am also a single mom with little to no help from my sons father. My son takes alot of my time for help with his school work (he has ADD) but other then that he is pretty independent. Ive been wanting to go to school to get my LVN license and eventually get my bachelors as an RN. Ive been pretty aprehensive thinking I might not be able to handle working full-time and go to a parttime vocational school for my LVN knowing that it is taxing on time for studying and such but you've truly inspired me to just go for it. THank you so much for your post its really given me the confidence I need.:thankya::tku:

Concorde San Bernardino- LVN Program
Hello, Im wondering if anyone out there has gone to or is going to start school here? I just took a tour of the school and I LOVE IT !!! I also checked out American Career College in Orange County but by far this school really impressed me. Im supposed to take the CPAT test on Thursday and am really nervous. They did tell me if I dont pass the first time I can retake the test and they will help me so I can pass the second time. If I get in to the program I wont start till August so I do have time still to get everything straight. My main concern is the financing portion, I already have student loans out and because of how much I make I wont qualify for any grants which means if I get the full allowance of student loans ( not sure that I will) I still have to come up with another $14k in private loans. I am a single mom so also the schedule will be hard even though Im only going part time ( T,W,Th 6-10) I work full time M-F 5am-2 and I work in OC but live in Rancho Cucamonga which is a big commute. I, really nervous if I am doing the right thing or if I should just put off my dreams till my son is out of school or atleast driving ( he's 12 now in the 7th grade). Any advice, I am really really nervous - Im just not sure if Im being realistic about taking on so much right now, plus my job has been doing cutbacks and we just received a 10% cut in pay so I feel like Im running out of time at work and with what I do it really wont count as experience I cant ake any where else that I will make nearly as much at.

West Coast Univ LA- anyone attend/attending??
Hi I am currently looking for a good nursing school to attend. I dont have any prereqs right now so i will be starting out from scratch. I looked into WCU's RN Program and it does look awesome, but the cost really concerns me. Since I have no prereqs it'll cost me $126k. My other choices are to go to a community college which will take forever or complete an LVN program in the meantime and then work on getting my RN. My question to you is now that you have completed school did you have a hard time getting a job and do you regret having to pay so much money back for the school. DO you think it'll be better to go a less expensive route? I will have to take out loans for the entire balance most likely.Any advice would be much appreciated.
