Ethel Bauer School of Nursing Phoenix

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello,

I am 27 years old and thinking of switching careers to nursing. There is a new nursing school in Phoenix that opened last year. The cost of the whole program is about 26k but there is no waiting list. The student graduates with an AA. Has anyone heard of this school? Can someonne tell me something about this school and their program? I was told that University of Phoenix and Grand Canyon University does credit their courses if decided to go for BSN.

Specializes in ICU, Tele. M/S.

Have you enrolled in a Nursing Program yet? Just wondering. I just graduated from EBSN and they don't have their accredidation yet since it is based on my class (the first graduates of the school) has to take and pass the boards in order for the school to get accredited.

Yes I have. Classes start on Monday, so I'm feeling anxious already.

Since you're one of the first graduates of the program, honestly, how would you rate your experience at EBSN?

Regardless good luck in your nursing career.

I am currently in the process of applying to EBSN. I have to take CHEM and ALGEBRA first. I just couldnt see myself taking 2+ years of pre-req's at a community college. I need to get in and out and start making money......If anyone has any info to share that'd be great!

Call the school and ask for Sandy. She is very nice, and will answer any/all of your questions.

Oh I have talked to Sandy, she is great! I was wanting more info from a student. My gut tells me Im headed in the right direction though. I have had good vibes from everyone at the school as well. I will just feel more relaxed once their accredidation is complete.

Hi all!

When I first replied to this thread I was just starting my second block in EBSN. I am now in my fourth block and my class will be the third class graduated from EBSN... we are so close! :)

Believe me all the students have concerns about accreditation as it affects our future and the money we just spent getting this education. Recently, we were told by our administrator, that the school had to graduate one class before they applied for ACICS accreditation, our first class graduated Oct '06 and the ACICS committee was just at our school Oct 29-31 going through their accrediting process. This appeared to go very well.

We then asked her about NLN accrediting as a few of us want to continue on with our BSN and MSN degree and worry about where we can continue and a few of us want to work at the VA Hospital system and they will not hire RNs who graduate from non-NLN accredited schools. She said that EBSN would not be able to apply for NLN accrediting until they graduated a second class. Our second class of RN students will be graduating in February '07 and she said it would take 6 months or so to obtain the NLN accrediting.

This school seems to be heading in the right direction with accreditation. If I learn anything else regarding the accrediting from the administration or if I hear about other colleges that will accept EBSN's credits I'll post it.

Thank you for the info! How are the classes, in general, going for you? Are you finding the workload difficult, easy, semi-difficult? I would like your input on that aspect of things. Thanks!

If anyone knows at which hospitals ESBN does their clinicals would be nice and if anyone knows how the first graduating class is doing on their NCLEX tests.

Thanks for all the replies.

It really helps in decision-making.

Run as FAR away from Ethel Bauer School of Nursing as you can!! I was a student in one of the other programs offered at IIA, so the nursing school is in our building. I wanted to enroll in the program, but I decided not to. I have talked with several students there and they can't wait for the program to end because they were miserable.

I have heard good things about Apollo's RN program, so I will be enrolling there. Apollo's program is in close proximity to Ethel Bauer.

Specializes in retail NP.

i'm in my last semester there. i like it pretty well. the instructors are pretty good, the clinical sites have been great. they're still inventing the wheel there (so far, we will only be the 2nd graduating class) so expect that the road will be a little bumpy. the school has a good reputation. the reputation helped get me in the door at phoenix children's in the PICU.

I had never heard of this school before today. Are they an accredited school? Does the Arizona State Board of Nursing recognize them?

Am waiting to hear from a contact at AZ Board of Nursing. I don't think that a school without accreditation would be able to send students for NCLEX.

However, there is a school that operates in Arizona (out of a mall, I believe) that sends students to Utah to take NCLEX. Utah licenses the grads, then they come to AZ to work on a compact license.

Last I heard, AZ Board of Nursing was looking into this and was going to work something out with Utah so as not to grant these nurses a compact state license.
