So it happened - my beloved plum Littmann Cardiology III walked away I've had that scope for 5-6 years. I didn't think it could happen since over those years I've had nurses and doctors borrow it, left it on the unit, etc but I always got it back. Not this time
So I'm wondering - what stethoscope do you use? I'm thinking of just purchasing another Cardio III but I'm also looking into the Master Cardiology.
Littmann Cardiology iii... black on black and SIC looking! lol but hear me out as to why i really wanted it:
so ive always been a fan of the goodies but cheapies like MDF. However, as a med/surg/neuro nurse transitioning to the ED there was one thing I had not considered: pedi! The cardio iii has an adult and pedi diaphragm instead of a classic diaphragm and bell like an adult stethoscope. It was relatively affordable, but you will want to get it somewhere like amazon. Now is the perfect time to start looking because sites will start offering discount codes, free shipping, etc. for the holidays.
I have no suggestions for it now walking off besides those mentioned above. one thing that has kept me from setting mine down is a hip clip, because i am less likely to take it off and put it at the station, a bedside table, etc. when it is attached to my hip.
Hope that helps!

There's a classic III now that has both adult and pedi also
Well, the reason is that ER nurses (typically) see patients of all ages unless they have a separate pediatric ER. The Cardio III's bell can convert into a pedi diaphragm and the Master Cardiology I heard has a pedi adapter. I actually do not take care of a lot of kids where I work. Thanks for your input!
Incorrect the cardio 3 bell has both adult and pedi.
Love my Cardiology III! We see a lot of peds as well as adults, so it is uber useful. It was a gift from my paramedic partner at my fire station when I finished nursing school, I treasure it! Almost lost it working infrequent-PRN at a trauma center when I left it in one of the trauma bays, but a good-hearted colleague found it and put it away for me for my next shift. Whew! So sorry you lost yours.
I just got a brand new Cardiology III after my Master Classic II and back-up Lightweight both walked away in the span of 3 weeks. The new one is engraved in 2 places and has a dog tag hanging off of it as well. I am guarding this sucker with my life! I've heard good things about the Ultrascope, but I'm kinda nervous to change brands.

For both the ED and CVICU, I use the Littman Cardio III like you mentioned because I'm able to flip it to peds if needed. Definitely a winner. I also have the electronic Littman. I do not like it as much as the traditional and plan on selling it.
