I work alongside nurses and am in the process of becoming a nurse myself.
While I have great respect for the profession and my coworkers as well as a passion for it (hence my reason for going to RN school), I've noticed nurses (many but not all) have this superiority attitude like their job is the only job in the Healthcare field that matters. They talk down to all the other professionals (respiratory therapists, social workers, occupational therapists, etc) and disregard any of the hard work they do and just expect a pat on the back for every little thing. I've even heard some nurses say they should get paid more than the doctor because their work is more important.
Also, I hear many nurses complain that they have too much to do, and then when anyone tries to give them a hand they have this turf battle and think everyone is trying to take over their job and isn't competent enough to do so even if it's something as simple as helping bathe a patient.
What's your opinion?

*****GASP*****. I must find this Shangrila of gastronomic delight, this Mecca of foodiness of which you speak.
OooOooo. Red Jello was my Favorite! Especially when they fixed them in the kitchen and put the little swirl of whipped topping on there! Oh yes, and Sherbert Ice Cream!

We have sherbet!! Two flavors!! Orange and orange cream swirl.
Sometimes we have such a crazy night shift that we hit the nutrition room like a pack of wolves. I ain't proud!! There are only so many emergency granola bars a nurse can't eat from his/her pack before that sherbet starts to call your name....[emoji39]
ETA: lest anyone scold me for stealing from my employer, let me just say that they're OK with it as long as it's not an all the time thing AND we try to eat the outdates first ? Our manager understands that things get crazy sometimes and that the cafeteria frequently doesn't open in the middle of the night.

If you can't get your breaks then they're stealing from you. They probably wish they could pay everyone in graham wafers.

We get compensated time and a half for missed breaks in addition to being able to scarf snacks from the nutrition center. It happens sometimes. I don't feel taken advantage of at all, although I do take your point. [emoji4]
Been there, done that said:Better not be hospital pantry graham crackers... security will walk you out the door. Don't even THINK about the peanut butter.![]()
LOL. Sadly they are the hospital supplied graham crackers. The 2 crackers in the blue packet everyone is talking about. I hadn't considered the peanut butter, but I might now .... Shame on me
