What do you guys have engraved on your stethoscope? I know this is an item I'll have for many years to come so I'd like RN after my name. ....but I'm not an RN yet. Is it wrong to have it engraved like that? I wish I could add that later.

My husband recently bought me a Littmann Cardiology III as a birthday gift / "congratulations" for getting into nursing school. He had my name engraved on the head and tubing but that was it. I never really thought about wanting RN engraved, but I'd look at it as being a jinx or something. Like, I didn't want a nurse charm for my charm bracelet until I had the official okay to progress in the fall, and now I'm finally getting it for my birthday this week.[/quote']I never thought about putting RN on mine, either. If you had decided to go ahead and get RN put on it, you'd better keep that stethoscope at home until you get your license. Otherwise I--and almost every other nurse out there--WILL call you on it if we see it. And I have done just that to students.
This is no joke....neverminding it's breaking the law. Nurses take the use of RN (or LVN) very seriously.
You can always add "RN" to the engraving when you pass the NCLEX. Or do what I did: and treat yourself to a top-notch steth after graduation and get "Your name, RN" put on that one, and save your school steth as a backup.
And to answer your thread's question, I have it engraved with my full name and RN.
When I was a student, I used just my initials.

On the one I have now it is engraved with SunshineDaisy. For real! When I pass the NCLEX in a few weeks:yes: I want a new fancy one, and will have my name, RN on it!

I put my phone number on mine. That was two stethoscopes ago.

My fiance got me the Cardio III, with my first name and soon to be last name. I didn't want to put RN on it, because 1) I'm not one yet, and I think it would be rude to do so, and 2) I want to work towards my DNP, and one you have it engraved with RN, you can't add to it. If you want to get the RN engraved, get the ID badge that attaches to the tubing, and have it engraved with RN. You can order another one down the line if you get your BSN, MSN, etc. My two cents :)
