Engraving on Littmann

Published

What do you guys have engraved on your stethoscope? I know this is an item I'll have for many years to come so I'd like RN after my name. ....but I'm not an RN yet. Is it wrong to have it engraved like that? I wish I could add that later.

My mother got me a littman and put R.N. after my name with a little music note. I consciously have to turn my stethoscope diaphragm side up when it rests on my shoulders to hide the R.N. after my name. I think it'll be nice after I become an RN, but I wouldn't have done that If I ordered the stethoscope myself.

I just received my Littmann Classic II SE with my name on it. When I graduate, I hope to update my stethoscope to a cardio III with "RN" on it. Or I could maybe go get it added at Things Remembered. I know it is exciting to have RN on it, but we are not "RNs" yet and we have to respect that title to the ones who actually are registered nurses. It may also confuse patients and hospital staff...that's not good.

My mom had my first and middle name engraved on mine... One, because hopefully I'll be changing my last name at some point in the lifetime of my stethoscope. Two, because the chances of there being another Shye Anne in my vicinity is slim (a lot slimmer than there being a S. Johnson!)

Registered nurse is a protected title. While your intentions are pure, you should not use the title RN until you are officially "registered". This means passing the NCLEX and receiving your license.

When I Graduated LPN school my mother in law bought me a cardio III, she got my first and last name on it.

I'm in RN school now, then plans to go on for NP, Then DNP.

So no title for me on mine

I do have different mugs

One says nursing student, one LPN

I will keep getting new mugs.

Take it to a jeweler to have the engraving done later. You can add it any time you want.

I have a cross, heart, my name, heart cross....I can't wear my cross necklace, so I put the cross on my scope.....works great for the really mean patients....hehehehe..never know when a girl have to drive out the hellion in patients and co-workers....I kid i kid about the last part but what I have engraved is true!
