Which one do you like better? I am an EMT-B and was a volunteer at an ED (Level II) for a little less than a year. I admire CNAs but had a clear preference for pre-hospital and emergency care. I think any experience in the healthcare field (even just exposure to it as a volunteer) can be beneficial in your application. If nothing else, it shows that you are dedicated enough to "test run" the field beforehand and that you find it fits you.

I have to chime in and agree with One1 - I too am an EMT-B, but with more prehospital experience. I also volunteered on a med-surg floor for a year. Go with what interests you.

I am a CNA at a hospital and I volunteer once a week in the ED because I have interest in that area. I wish I would have went to be a EMT-B because I would love to work in the ED but money situation and time. Good luck to you!
thank you so much for the feedback guys =D

Do what interests you. I am trying to get a volunteer position at a the Pediatric hospital at Westchester Medical center ( I have my interview next week :) ). I know I want to one day become a Neonatal nurse so for me personally becoming a CNA or EMT is not good for me.
Just figure out what you want to do so you can get the most out of the experience.
