EMR--what do you use?

Published

What do you use for your charting? I despise the system I have to document under. Its very outdated, previous documentation is easily altered. When I enter things in the system and run reports, half my information is missing, leaving me to have to double document everything through tally marks on paper so I have numbers for my end of year report.

I have tossed the idea out to my admin that I need an updated program. I spend more time messing with documentation than I do caring for kids. My vaccination information will randomly disappear for example, and then I am left digging through paper charts to re-enter the information. Also we consist of 2 elementary schools. Kids bounce between the two schools frequently (due to foster care situations or just moving in general). Every time they switch between the two school information has to be entered in again, a paper chart is sent back and forth-and I spend SO much time tracking down these stupid charts-I think it is ridiculous. I'd like to find a system I could scan everything in and no need to print it out until the student physically transfers out of the district.

I dont even know where to start!!

I have been out of the hospital setting for almost 8 years. I’m back in the ICU and learning Cerner is not fun. I have always been technologically savvy. I don’t see how this is efficient, orders can be easily lost, the redundant rules of charting have gotten worse. It’s not okay to have to chart so much that it interferes with patient care.

Thread is in SCHOOL NURSING section --looking for software only used in school nurse setting, not hospital/home health based computer programs.

We use Synergy, another school admin system with EMR added on. It's...meh, OK. They're trying to improve the setup for us.

Each time we get an update, the system crashes. Ugh!

My school and our sister schools do not have a computer system for records. We would love to find something inexpensive that is strictly for charting and maybe able to keep records. We all use paper charting for meds. Right now two schools use paper charting for general nurses notes, and I use Google Docs because I am inefficient in paper charting and find typing much more efficient. I worry a lot about losing stuff, someone accessing . . . but have not found a better solution. I have briefly looked in to Caredox but see the one person here who mentioned it was less than thrilled.

SNAP has a lease option at $300/ year and records are available even if you stop leasing. Even my modest school could afford it, and I loved it. We went to Renweb, now FACTS, that is web based, so my student info is available remotely and I can send my documentation to parents as an email without additional steps.
