What do you use for your charting? I despise the system I have to document under. Its very outdated, previous documentation is easily altered. When I enter things in the system and run reports, half my information is missing, leaving me to have to double document everything through tally marks on paper so I have numbers for my end of year report.
I have tossed the idea out to my admin that I need an updated program. I spend more time messing with documentation than I do caring for kids. My vaccination information will randomly disappear for example, and then I am left digging through paper charts to re-enter the information. Also we consist of 2 elementary schools. Kids bounce between the two schools frequently (due to foster care situations or just moving in general). Every time they switch between the two school information has to be entered in again, a paper chart is sent back and forth-and I spend SO much time tracking down these stupid charts-I think it is ridiculous. I'd like to find a system I could scan everything in and no need to print it out until the student physically transfers out of the district.
I dont even know where to start!!

I used SchoolBrains, but not sure if that is specific to my state. It is really a school administrative system with an EMR added into it. The EMR was terrible at first, but the company is learning and updates have been made. The good thing about it is I can immediately make health info available for teachers to see (i.e. student's name can have a medical symbol for Asthma, Allergies, Diabetes, etc). This makes it awesome because NO LISTS. I reach out with specific concerns, have a field trip protocol, but teachers love it because they just log on and see it as well.
I used to use SNAP. I loved SNAP as a school EMR. But it did not talk well at all with our school program at the time so when new students entered or left, I'd have to wait for a whole system update (which wasn't often) to see student appear in SNAP for me.

We use Infinite Campus. Its a whole school wide system with an EMR section built in. I like it though, because I can check everything about a student in one sitting - meds, visits, attendence, family contact, etc.

We use SNAP in our district (and in fact, most of the public schools in our area use SNAP). My big complaint is the same as @JenTheSchoolRN's; SNAP doesn't talk to Rediker in my school (it works in other schools in the district for some reason...) So, I've had to input each new student manually. But, I have a good system - I receive Records, they get a computer chart started with immunizations and physical info, and then their paper chart gets created and the files are filed right away!

We use SNAP, it is great! Though they just changed to "cloud based" and its been iffy some days, but its back on track now! Ours does talk with our other school programs so it is good in that respect.

NutmeggeRN Thats what we have! I hate it...or am I just not aware of its capabilities? Maybe ours is outdated? I have so many issues with it!

We use Magnus. It syncs with Senior systems so always has the most updated parent contact info. Students are automatically enrolled as soon as they are enrolled with the school. Not as easy to use as snap but much more complete with a large number of features.

We use eSchool Plus. It has its faults, but this iteration of it seems to be okay. It talks to the gradebook program that the teachers use, so they can see medical alerts on students, and it also syncs with View-It, which is our district information software. Diags can see vision and hearing screening results in there.

For medications we use PAPER. It's the dark ages over here.

We use Synergy, another school admin system with EMR added on. It's...meh, OK. They're trying to improve the setup for us.
