The hospitals in our area offer reimburesment by the employee being full time , having had been there at least one year, and the student (employee) pays up front. The report card is turned in and for an A the employee is reimbursed 100%, B 75%, C 50%. nothing below a C. If the facility pays reimbursement, they expect the employee to agree to work there for a minimum of a year after reimbursement.
I am sure it varies from place to place, just thought I would give my thought on this.
Where I work, the hospital pays 100% tuition UPFRONT as long as the proper paperwork is submitted by the date required prior to the start of each semester/quarter of the school one chooses to attend. You must work full time to get this benefit, and it goes into affect right after your probationary period ends.
If you work part time, the tuition is based on number of hours worked, but assistance is still there for the part timers.
As far as I know, there is NO commitment required!

The hospital where I work at offers a tuition reimbersement program for employees only. It is a part of the benefit package. If you are a full time employee, you get $1,000 a year. Part time gets $250.00 per year.
In order to reveive this you must turn in your semester bill, a copy of your grades, and a note signed by your dept. director. After graduation you can work as a graduate nurse for 1 year only or for 1 NCLEX exam. After you pass your boards you get a $1,000 bonus. It doesn't sound that that great of a program, but there is no contracts to sign in return. You can terminate your position when ever you want.
I know of several hospitals in my area that pay for tuition in exchange for a work agreement. In fact, this is how I'm footing the bill for my degree...then I'm committed to work at a certain hospital for 4 years after grad. In addition, most hospitals in the area offer $2000 per year for tuition once you are a full time employee.

In St. Petersburg, FL the hospital I work at has tuition reimbursment for all types of programs. But for RNs it's even sweeter because we have "earn as you learn". You work as a tech get 40 pays for 16 hours work, 100% of books and tuition paid for, in exchange for two years of service after graduation. It's becoming quite popular. Our first graduates are on the floors now.

While you're in school, you can sign a contra in your senior year, they'll pay tuition, then you go work for them a year or two depending on how many semesters they pay.
As a new grad, if you sign on for two years, they will reimburse up to $4K of your senior year tuition up front. They take out a loan and pay it. If you leave before your two years is up, you pay the balance of the loan.
All full time employees are eligible to receive $2,600 a year in tuition reimbursement for further education including CEUs.
All in all, it's a pretty nice package.

I have heard that there are hospitals that will reimburse you for tuition costs in exchange for agreeing to work for them for a certain number of years upon graduation.
Does anyone know of hospitals that have these programs? Specifically in Houston, but I'm open to other areas as well.
At the moment I am applying for nursing schools but have not yet started a program. Any type of info. on financial help would be much appreciated!
